DashPanel - Simracing dashboards for Android/iOS/PC/VR.

Yeah sort that one, working all good now...but...I can't seem to get the onscreen overlay working, I have read all the suggested fixes but doesn't want to work, any thoughts on that one?

 

What happens when you switch on overlay mode?
Default key combo Alt-o

 

On mine, it is Alt-w but nothing happens, Alt-e opens the overlay to edit though?

 

Can you just run DashPanel by itself with no game and tell me what happens when you open an overlay layout and switch overlay on?
Does the client have a black background or does it become transparent?
Does it draw on top of the desktop or steam for example?

 

Just a black background, there is a flicker bottom corners and very top of screen when I press the keys but then just a black screen with the overlay on it?

Can you check that transparency is enabled in your windows?
What version of windows do you run?

A quick google for windows 11 brings up this:

Still running win7, Aero or transparency seems to be enabled, will have a look at the link you sent and see if anything helps?

 

Got it working, had to stop and restart the Desktop Window Manager Session service, all working now

 

Have a couple of suggestions for this app, not sure they are at all possible but just thought I'd mention them?
An option to turn off copying page 0, I like to have a map in full screen on the last page
Being able to change the page order
A few more fonts, specifically more italic options

 

You could just leave page zero blank?
Your other suggestions have been added to my list. I hope to add font importing in future.

 

Yes that is what I do but it does make for more work having to duplicate items to every page, thanks for looking my suggestions

 

Ok, little workaround...
You can create page0 and all other pages and use Pos "Z" of higher then 5 or more to get all the widgets you like. On the last page, create an fullscreen backround image, all black, with "Z" of 3 or 4. This is used to cover up all the page0 widgets. And on top of that background screen place the map with "Z" of 1 or 2. You get the idea?

 

Yeah I think I tried that but from memory the shift and warning lights show through the background?

 

Berno, for some reason the "none" option for light backing is gone? Bug or feature? I will create the dashes of the last RRRE releases, but missing this option...

I had the same idea to block it with a background screen but yes the lens flare in Unity does not respect geometry unless it has physics attached. I’ve made a note to see if I can work around this issue.

 

Pierre the option is still there for me.
The uGUI system in Unity is totally useless I think the combo box at that resolution goes up and is cut off? Can’t you try a different res and see if none reappears?

 

Yepp, that was the reason. 3440x1440 on my 34" cuts of the "none". Prob solved, thanks Berno!

Obviously it’s not ideal. I wish to change the whole UI anyway. Unity have admitted the current ui tool is inadequate and are building a new system. I also am reviewing other assets that could improve it. Hopefully I find a good solution in the future.

Hey Guys, I have finally started to solve the problem of Alert pages. As you've both shown interest in this before I thought maybe you could try it out in the open beta? Let me know if its intuitive and what other values you would like an alert to work with?

The same goes for anybody else listening in on the thread. I appreciate any help fleshing the feature out
