In general i understand your thought process and agree that a matchmaking system that rates a 1400/90 driver and an 1800/70 driver as equal is not exactly intuitive and probably not ideal either. Im still somewhat undecided tho whether splitting by rating only would make for an overall better experience. In your particular case i think the main issue is just that unfortunately there arent enough players for you to find many drivers with a similar pace, regardless of the exact splitting mechanism. Assuming everybodys rating is fairly accurate and players of all ratings are equally likely to sign up for a given race then in a race with 50 signups theres probably only a single person who is slower than you. So even with splits that are purely based on rating youd be at the back and probably only fighting a couple others. But of course if as you say you arent even put into the bottom split then youre even less likely to find a group to battle with. Perhaps the ranking formula could be tweaked so that reputation still is a factor but doesnt have as big of an impact
First, great job on the UI for the multiplayer. Easier to use and visually great looking. Second, can you please make the headers static (like a frozen header row in excel) so the headers don't disappear while scrolling. Third, I REALLY look forward to having an in-game warning letting me know 1-2 minutes in advance when it's time to quit my "time improvement" session to join the real race without missing it each time.
Correct, although this warning needs to be nothing more than a small message popping up in the HUD, so it doesn't distract you too much from driving. When the training server of the event starts, you can still finish your lap (except on Nordschleife maybe ) and then join the server, no need to rush.
Well, Dave here has some very good points. The main issue for me is that you have to race against folks (with the exception of Freebie schedules) with low rep/rating, even complete noobs or those dudes who don't give a shit on fairness and decent racecraft. To restrict certain online racing sessions via rep/rat levels like before would be the best solution. Cause atm one might get the impression it's all about new customers (teased via super-duper "Multiplayer Packs") no matter what but let me say so : There are a lot of idiots who might become customers but not every customer is an idiot and the latter will drop out sooner or later. Please do something about it. I also would like to see those longer sessions with pitstops again btw.
DTM 2002 Saisonrückblick time stamp 19:19 Wtf was that: a) crash kiddo b) noob with low rep/rating c) glitch d) bug e) divine intervention f) bad karma g) a unique incident in the world of motor sports without parallel? We all struggle day after day for more immersion and reality in the game—pardon, the simulation—especially if it will help us grow in our own eyes. But when immersion slaps you a couple of times, it somehow stops being comfortable. Or I'm messing something up somewhere... Sincerely
yes, the ranking/matchmaking needs to be adjusted. I had multiple races with multiple splits (2 to 4), I'm in the 1st split and even in this split there's some people with 1400 rating (or lower) and reputation also below 60... I mean what then happens in the 3rd and 4th split?. RaceRoom had minimum required reputation previously and servers were split in Rookie, AM and PRO. That made a lot of sense, and if you managed to get your ratings up and was able to join PRO servers, you could feel the difference of drivers in that server.
Since im not on discord i have no idea to what extent the devs are aware and working on solutions but i do wanna also bring up my concerns on here. Using myself as an example, since the big september update (only using the time since then since anything prior seems outdated now but its not really like ive had great luck back then either but on average things worked better for me then) ive tried 8 ranked races and 7 of those attempts were affected by technical issues of varying sorts. I really had hopes for the ranked update but at this rate its hard to enjoy (plus the leaderboard quali but looks like im fighting a losing battle there ) and judging by what i come across online im far from the only one feeling that way.. . I can imagine these issues aint easy to sort but in the meantime some info on when solutions could become available etc would be nice to have, gotta keep that hope alive somehow afterall
