This vehicle represents a unique and highly significant chapter in late 90s endurance racing history. Introducing this car would offer players a distinct driving experience, as it significantly differs from the mid-engine layout that characterizes the majority of the current GT1 and GTR class vehicles in the game. Its front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration, combined with its iconic aesthetic, would be an incredible addition to the simulator's diverse lineup. Vehicle Specifications: Engine: Ford-derived 6.0L naturally aspirated V8 Configuration: Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive Power Output: Approximately 600 hp @ 7,000 rpm Transmission: X-Trac 6-speed sequential gearbox Chassis: Carbon fiber monocoque Weight: Approximately 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs) 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph): ~3.2 seconds Top Speed: Approximately 330 km/h (205 mph) depending on gear ratios and aerodynamic configuration. The Panoz GTR-1 is not only a fan favorite for its unmistakable, thunderous V8 engine note, but it also provides a unique technical challenge. Mastering the weight distribution and the turn-in characteristics of a front-engine endurance racer would provide a refreshing gameplay dynamic for both casual drivers and league competitors. Furthermore, it would perfectly complement the existing historical GT content within RaceRoom, allowing for more accurate and nostalgic multi-class racing scenarios.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it already, but let me bring up the late-2000s DTM as well… it was amazing, and I don’t think it’s ever really made it into any sim racing title (I only ever had a mod for Race 07).
