One of the things that became more obvious with this big update is that support for various driving devices needs an improvement. I'm not talking about "add a default profile for X wheel because it's new/popular", no, I'm talking about the bigger picture. 1) Every change you make needs to be evaluated not only by how good it works on the wheels you have in the studio, but also by: - how well it works on a gamepad/joystick/mouse; - how well it works on a keyboard; - how well it works on a wheel with a very small steering range (like 180-270 degrees); - how well it works on an unrecognized gamepad; - how well it works on an unrecognized wheel; - if it doesn't work well, how does it look to the player and how does the game help (or hinder) the player solve the issue. There will ALWAYS be unrecognized devices, you can't just rely on adding new wheels to steering_wheel.xml when people report issues with them. The game must be developed with that in mind and provide all necessary settings, switches and information to help properly set up any device even if the game doesn't know what that is. Especially since Raceroom is very slow in adding new wheels anyway. 2) You need to keep track of hardware issues and hardware capabilities so that you don't end up with this: ...or this: - The list of devices didn't have Moza at first, they only added it later. - Out of all Logitech wheels only 2-3 will probably work with Auto option; G923 has a long known bug, G25 and older wheels might require installing the old Logitech software, and G Pro and RS50 aren't in steering_wheels.xml so for the game they are non-wheel devices. - Thrustmaster DD wheels aren't in steering_wheels.xml either. Probably the same with newer Fanatec wheels, the latest Fanatec wheel in steering_wheels.xml is CSL DD. If the game doesn't know the device, the Auto option will be greyed out. - Moza supports Auto, yet, confusingly, is used as an example of how to set up manual steering angle. And I'm not even sure if manual works correctly on R3/R5 because previously the spring-based steering lock feature didn't work properly - changing the steering angle worked fine, but there was no soft-lock at the ends of the range. That's all off the top of my head and I'm not even a dev or a hardware reviewer, I'm just a player who follows what's happening with the game.
