Discounted Content in Store - regularly updated

That's a good question, actually. I only just noticed that it's set to "Free".

But the discount still seems to have been increased, not just because the Porsche is free. That pack cost around 15 Euro a few months ago and now it's less than half that price. Although 90% is a strange number, all the content in the pack at its base price does not cost 6500 vRP. I think it's because all Porsche liveries are counted as if they cost 599 vRP. Other packs with that Porsche, GTR3 and DTM24, seem to not have this issue (and they seem properly discounted further as if you owned the Porsche).

But still, the overall deal is pretty decent even if you don't get Porsche - you get 4 modern GT3s for 1.6 Euro each.

 

I'm pretty sure you would keep the Porsche that way. It worked for me once when I bought a pack where some stuff was temporarily unlocked for me for an eSports competition.

 

That's interesting. Do you remember if the pack was discounted because you had access to that stuff? And was that stuff shown as "Owned" for you?

What we see now is different to what happens during free access periods, for example. During the latter, you can use content in the game, but you don't own it; all content keeps its price and you can buy it. But you can't buy that Porsche now, its status changed to "Owned" and this is further reflected in DTM23, DTM24, GTR3 pack prices. So the store system does think that you own it and probably won't add the car to your account.

I hope someone who bought the pack could confirm or disprove that after the free event ends.

 

The unlocked content for eSports competitions is shown as free. The packs were definitely discounted for me. The Porsche is also shown as free for me right now, it's not showing up as owned.

 

How? I only see it like that ("Free" without "Owned") when I'm not logged in:

If you buy the pack now it´s not your problem some items are temporarily free and if they are not included then it should have been mentioned like with the Lambo and 720 Evo in the P.P. I mean it happens with the Premium pack too, which you can only buy once on the same account anyway but which is slightly cheaper than normal because the Ring and Porsche are free for now. Surely you are not going to have to buy them again separately after the promo period so I expect these items still to be owned after the promo, the same way as if next mont they make the BMW M4 free for a while.

As for DTM 2023 price, I guess it makes sense as otherwise few people would buy it with the 2024 pack out as there are no exclusive cars and just old liveries you can´t use in ranked or competitions so you have to buy newer skins. It´s the same with some of the older WTCR packs, the 2019 one has always been much cheaper than the rest, despite having 7 cars and just a few less liveries than 2018 or 2020 and much more than 2021 and 2022.

I've never bought any 992, and it's currently showing as free+owned for me, the same as for Maskerader's second account "without" it:

In the end KW still can argue that one isn't entitled to the car, and all is fine because of the discount benefited for that item. So, it's prudent to wait for official word on this, as many packs are concerned.

 

I thought about that but numbers don't add up then. If they simply reduced the pack price in such a way that it costs 653 vRP if you have the Porsche, then you should've seen 81% discount, like this:


But we see 90%. Like I mentioned above, this can only happen if all Porsche liveries cost as a full car, 599, and surprisingly, all the numbers fit perfectly in that case:


I assume that the base discounts for packs aren't set directly by the store admins, admins set a target price of the pack (1499 in this case) and then the discount is calculated by the system based on total price of the content and the target price of the pack. And then this base discount is used to calculate how much cheaper the pack becomes if you already own some of its content.

That means that this glitch with Porsche liveries is exactly the reason why the pack became this cheap. So it doesn't look like it was intentional.

 

Why this glitch doesn't affect the other two packs I don't know. My guess is that under the hood liveries are actually full cars with a linked discount and for some reasons this linked discount broke for Porsche 2023 DTM, but I don't have enough information to prove or disprove it.

Something strange is happening either with linked discounts or with "owned" status:


I only miss a livery, but it shows a full car price instead of 29 vRP and this is not DTM23 pack, it's GTR3.

 

All that is probably true and the automatic discount also applies for packs with the Ring included, but you could be overthinking things. These items ARE visuallly itemised parts of the packs, regardless of their unit price so buying the pack means getting those items permanently, especiallly as you cannot rebuy any pack. If they were not to be included then they should have been removed, case of the old Porsche and the 2018 ADAC pack, which can no longe be bought as a pack anyway or the WTCC ones less the Citroens.

Another example is the 2023 Porsche pack. The price is now lower but it still includes the 992 permanently, otherwise it would be a 3 car pack with 2 variants of the same car - not much of a pack if you ask me.

 

Your approach to this situation is "how it should work", as in, what the devs' goals might've been and how they would've set up the store for that. But the numbers show that something weird is going on - something that goes against the way the store usually works. Plus this situation - a couple pieces of content are temporarity made free - is not standard either, and I can't remember if we ever had something like that before. The closest was, as Majuh mentioned, when eSporters got access to some content, but I'm not one of those so I don't know how exactly it worked.

So, 1) there's a situation that is pretty unique and 2) the store behaves weirdly. Both these facts increase our uncertainty of what happens when the event is over.

Does the store add all the content of the pack, including adding your already owned content again? In that case you keep the Porsche. Does the store only add the content that you don't own? In that case you aren't keeping the Porsche because you already "had" it at the moment of purchase of the pack. Both of that is possible. There are also other possible ways it works (for example, the store correctly identifies that you don't own the car and adds it to your account, but incorrectly adjusts the pack price).

We, players, don't have enough information at this point to know for sure. "The devs couldn't possibly fumble this" - nah, I think it's quite possible.

 

I am not worried because right now nothing can be changed. We´ll see what happens when the offer ends and react accordingly. My guess is the price will go up to include the free content in all packs containing the 911 and Ring but whether DTM23 also goes back to 15 euros, I have no idea. It´s weird this special prices has not been advertised because one would think it would attract more customers, or if it was a mistake, corrected.

All I know is I have paid for a pack which explicitly contains a number of items, the price is decided by them not me and the content too but if an item is going to be removed down the line then it shouldn´t affect those who have bought the pack before or now, however much they paid.

I would also expect to have to pay for skins of the same car in other classes like Gt3 and DTM24 but whether that is 29 cents or the full car price or something in between, I have no idea. We have seen with the Bentley Evo and 488 plus some WTCRs that sometimes the cost is a lot more.

 

Yeah, that was just a misunderstanding. The Porsche also shows up as "Free | Owned" for me, and it's the same thing for the unlocked eSports content. I just wanted to say that there's always the "Free" label present.

 

@J-F Chardon first of all, sorry for the ping as I don't know the suitable dev to altert. Given the situation described above needs some clarification, if one buys the DTM23' pack now (not owning any car), will its Porsche 992+liveries remain on the account after May 1st? Thanks

 

There was a game update on Friday, any pricing mistake could have been corrected then so I guess it is legit.

 

So the prices are back to normal and the 992 IS still owned if part of a pack bought during F2P. Interestingly the DTM23 pack is back to 15 euros so that was quite a good deal while it lasted.

 

Glad it worked for you in the end! Unfortunately, since Monday's blackout my ISP went down, and for the lack of an official response to my previous inquiry, I couldn't buy the pack in time.
