    Hello everyone,

I was really excited for this update and jumped in as soon as I could. The physics feel great, with smooth weight transitions, well-balanced throttle control, and a good sense of grip recovery. The force feedback gives solid information, and overall, it feels like RaceRoom has real potential for drifting.

However, after testing the cars, I noticed some major issues that I’d like to discuss with the community:

    • While the M4 Drift has a new exterior, its interior is still the GT3 version, which feels out of place.
    • The E30 Drift is mostly a modified DTM model, again using the same cockpit.
    • The steering animation is still limited to 180°, even though the wheel keeps turning—this really hurts immersion for a drift mode.
    • At €12 for both cars, I expected more than just repurposed content.
    • There is no dedicated drift track or a free car to properly try out the mode.
I really want to enjoy drifting in RaceRoom because the physics are genuinely promising, but I feel like some details are missing to make this a truly great experience.

What do you all think? Are you enjoying the new drift mode? Do you feel the same about the cars and animations, or do you think it's good as it is? Curious to hear everyone's thoughts!

Add to the kid that as far as I know, the real M3 E30 drift has a manual transmission, not sequential.

That is only with hands. deactivate hands and the wheel rotats just as much as your own. Has always been the case.

For me, it was not content that I was particularly excited about, but despite everything I bought it.

I want to try it for much longer because I have barely played it, but I do agree with you on several of the points you mention, in particular the interior of the M4 Drift is very shabby because it is the same as the GT and has little to do with the real thing.

In general terms, I already said I want to try it more to draw better conclusions, but I don't know the initial feeling is that I have spent about €27 on content that leaves me doubting whether it was worth it.

A resonable price as a Pack would have tempted me but seeing it works out at aud $45 for 2 x cars & 2 x tracks I is just way too much for what it is. At least could have offered one free car or at least a current car already modified/setup to try out the drifting, sorry to say but very disappointing.

No, it's sequential. Or at least it was at one point.

This is from 7 years ago:

From 3 years ago, same gearbox:

I agree, an incorrect, copy-pasted cockpit in a €6 car is a pretty bad look. Not even a round wheel in M4.

Can you go to purchase car then free run and test the car that way like all the other cars?

Yes. But unfortunately you can't select "Drift area" layout of Raceroom Raceway.

Really hard to get one's head around; you can play all layouts of Raceroom Raceway for free, but you can't test the drift cars in the drift area of said track.

I guess they thought that would reduce sales since there would be no incentive to buy the cars as they are useless on normal tracks.

Or it could be an interface thing if it's not that easy to add another layout.

This is not just a stock E30. It's the Drift Brothers' replica, specifically built for drifting, with a sequential gearbox instead of the standard manual transmission.

Clearly they have lacked more care in replicating some places on the cars instead of recycling. I'm not even saying that you have to carry the Red Bull bottle on the dashboard, but among other details, even the mirrors and the wheels are those of the 1992 DTM model, or it doesn't even have the roof outlet... I haven't gotten around to trying it in VR yet, but I imagine that these details will stand out even more. Clearly they should do a review of the aesthetics of these two cars because it seems that they are almost selling us a livery like a new car.

I would love if they redo the interiors, but still, it's more than a livery: it has different physics, tyres and outside 3D model. Audio is probably different too, although I didn't compare them.

The lack of accurate interior makes these cars' price unjustified to me, they should've been priced at €4, maybe €5 max.

I need help in learning how to drift. I couldn't catch either of these cars, no matter what I did. I even tried the Ford Mach-E Drift Ute, and it the same story. I must be cursed when it comes to drifting in a simulator...

The Gymkhana area is pretty good. My only issue is that the cones disappear mid-way through my left and right screen so, I have no idea of what I am aiming at when looking to the side.

the interiors of these cars are really next lvl of laziness - I get that we can't get the correct dashboards because scaleform is outdated and there is not enough workforce to replace it at the moment but having whole cockpit completely off is not acceptable honestly
also the gearshift protection feels out of place but maybe it is like that irl idk, the thing I know is that my friend who is big drift fan wasn't able to catch some "tricks" like 360 because of that and drifting cars in AC also doesn't have the protection

beside that the fact that these cars are not bundled is disappointing too looking at all previous releases

Yeah, that just looks ridiculous, here's the real deal:

It's not just this car though, I've noticed before that the McLaren 570S GT4 apart from the completely incorrect MFD also sports a round wheel rather than the accurate GT style "rectangular" one.
Some car interiors also suffer from low polygon count rendering, rather noticable in steering wheel buttons and other things that should be round but aren't.
All this while the sim has been getting more and more expensive, especially since the KW rebranding and the new content seems to be based on throwing things at a wall and see what sticks rather than fleshing out what's already there.
I think going for DTM 1995 and the historical tracks was a great move and I'd rather see a release of the Alemannenring (and Wunstorf) than drift stuff that doesn't seem to be in line with Raceroom's USP (i.e. German and Scandinavian touring car series).
