Towards the end of the season, the eSports WTCC is heading to Asia, just like its real counterpart, for the Race of China. But whilst the real WTCC will go to the Ningbo Circuit, the eSports WTCC visits Shanghai International Circuit. Shanghai has been on the calendar for five years, and Jose Maria Lopez is the most succesful driver on the track with three victories. But perhaps the most memorable victory came last year, when Thed Björk scored the first win for the Polestar Volvo team. On the leaderboard qualifying, the Volvo drivers proved that the pace of the Swedish racecars is accurately represented in the simulation. Once again, Gergo Baldi of Wauters Automotive set the best time ahead of his rival Kévin Leaune, whose SDL team is now supported by WTCC partner Oscaro. Tim Heinemann put his Honda into 3rd place on his return to the series, proving that he hasn't lost any of his speed, and that Honda is very competitive on the Chinese circuit too. Gaetan Goarant and Andre Fossto rounded out the top five in their Volvos, but with Bencé Banki's Citroen and Dirk Knatz' Chevrolet, four of the five manufacturers were represented in the top 10. The big story was the struggle for the championship favourites though. Championship leader Alexander Dornieden finished only in 28th position and then announced that he is forced to miss the race. His closest rival Jan Stange was only in 22nd though, and Márk Nándori was in 12th place. Despite being 47 points back, with his current impressive form, Gergo Baldi might even have a chance of joining the battle for the championship. The prize for the fastest rookie went to the German Malte Schneider in 24th place, while Division 2 was headed by Joaquin Rossi Silva from Argentina. As usual, the race will be streamed live on the WTCC Facebook page and the WTCC YouTube Channel. James Kirk and Robert Wiesenmüller will lead you through the action on Sunday, October 8th, at 17:00 GMT (18:00 UK / 19:00 EU) for three exciting races.
Password for the practice/quali servers is wtcc Official servers, with the passwords sent via e-Mail, will be launched 16:30 GMT (18:30 EU)
