Strange but true. Works every time for me.
I start a single player race, pause when still on the grid and restart. Do this 16 times and every time I get a strange noise when rotating my wheel.
It's hard to believe without proof so I took a video today showing my starting and restarting and the noise showing up on count 16.
It doesn't happen in any other game I have. I came across it when I had an evening of doing short 5 lap races in various touring cars/tracks. Pondered about how it came about and did some testing and now I have tried it at least 10 times and it does it every time without fail.
I'm hoping a dev can look at my logs to see if it's triggering something. Whilst the noise sound mechanical it feels electrical/magnetic.

I've been doing some more testing and in fact if I sit on the grid and pause/unpause 16 times it gives the same result. Fanatec have already sent me a new DD+ which should arrive tomorrow and I'll test this first and report back here, not that anyone seems particularly interested :D

New base arrived, only took 5 minutes to set up and test and it is exactly the same issue . I can only assume it is something that flags in R3E logs about number of starts or how to caches or something. I did more testing yesterday and I get the same result if I just sit on the grid and pause/unpause 16 times.

This afternoon I installed Steam and R3E on my laptop, plugged in the DD+ (new one) and it did the same thing so it must be a trigger between R3E and the DD+. My gaming PC is very new and Win11, my laptop is a ROG and a few years old on Win10.
Do the devs here have access to a DD+ or can they look at my logs? I would hope the devs would want to find the issue

After days of testing and trialling things, rolling back drivers and firmware this evening I found the culprit (ish) it seems to be the DPR effect in Fanatec that is giving the feel/noise/resistance. I can turn it off and get nothing or I can turn R3E's Stationary Friction to 0 and get nothing, difference being with R3E's Stationary Friction at 0 there's no resistance when standing still, which is no good.
So I can lose the issue, which is only really masking it, as R3E and Fanatec must be sending info to each other at the magic 16 starts to introduce it.
