As a kinda 50:50 racer (SP/MP) I really would appreciate some updates/optimisations for the Custom Championship. If you would mix AMS2 with RRE (and well functioning) you would have a perfect Championship Mode tho' what both miss is the option to gamesave mid race (same goes for replays) and RRE is missing any editable option AFTER you've started your Championship. While with AMS2 you can edit almost anything, beneath some bugs and bad optimisation the AI is quiet horrible , while with RRE the AI is (mostly) simply great, game well optimised but you can't edit shit And according to that a good pack of (race &rule) presets for each Class would be great as well. Guess it's known that the devs are working on the UI already, so I hope for some nice Updates in this matter Now waiting for the 24th of September is like waiting for the 24th of December
Well, I'm not sure if adaptive AI changes its level during a championship. If not, it should be. (I don't know why you would want to change anything else mid-season, but that's not the topic here.) Yes, the old presets from DTM and GT Masters are a good idea, but as the latest one is 2016 I guess, this feature feels somehow abandoned. A great idea could be to make championships exportable and importable, so the community can recreate their favourites and share the presets (incl. rules, opponents and tracks) with each other (e.g. over the KW forum or OverTake). As I believe there were some seasons where the Porsche Cup would do three races per weekend, that could be a nice additional feature. Point distribution should be selecable as well, e.g. for F1 sprint formats, the new DTM regulations or WEC. It truly feels like forever...
Adaptive AI does chance from round to round, depending on your perfomrances (and maybe presaved laptimes from earlier races on the next track). Rulesets...well...they exist. but are broken. ADAC presets don't do driver swaps (AI) anymore. Not sure if DTM presets even work (and what they actually do). I made a post early on in this thread about what is all missing in single player, that we actually have functions already in game (or rather on the dedicated server software). https://forum.kw-studios.com/index.php?threads/feature-wishlist-request.19024/#post-244372
I believe that custom livery is requested by many friends here. Some people remind that it may involve license issue with car manufacturers. Instead of custom livery, I wonder if R3E can consider custom driver name on race car that has driver name on windshield? This could add a bit of personalized experience while, hopefully, reducing the license issue. Size, color, typeface... every font style is fixed to original ones. Only letters (in English and other languages), some necessary punctuation marks (e.g. dot, hyphen) and space character are allowed.
While it's a cool idea to have personalized names on the car - (something i would love to see.) Unfortunately it could cause more issues with licensing as some idiots out there would enter inappropriate or offensive names on the car....the risk of having an offensive name pasted on you IP could be a turn off
For offensive words, I wonder if there is already a dictionary to cover them, because, say, if we apply for Google account, the inputted account name is checked if it has offensive and foul language before we can use it, so, it is already an automated procedure. Certainly, each IP owner may have their self-defined blacklist of words, and most importantly, the blacklist is not well defined, or they can only examine manually case by case. For example, Honda does not want their Honda Civic WTCR show a driver name called “Porsche”, or “Slow Honda”. Even if R3E makes custom driver name as a paid service to cover manual checking cost, R3E may not have sufficient knowledge and may not be in an appropriate position to say which name is ok (as R3E may be, at the end, complained or sued by IP owner).
There is no blacklist whatsoever. Just look at how many WW2 leaders or body part accounts are driving around. It's rediculous, especially for a game that is pegi/fsk/usk 0!
Do you mean the famous email service companies (GOOG, MSFT, etc) do not filter offensive words in account name before approval of account application? I was a programmer in a small company 25 years ago. The company got and maintained a foul language dictionary for its own use. Besides, nowadays, when we post something in some forums, foul words are automatically masked or covered with asterisks. So, I believe in IT industry, foul language dictionary is very common. Certainly, this library is not 100% comprehensive. Also, it is game developer owned decision whether the dictionary is used for filtering. What I mean is... for offensive or foul language, technically it is feasible to do automated filtering. So, whether the filtering is used or not is due to other reasons (e.g. developer company policy). But the story is not ended here. As I said, IP owner could have blacklist of words. The words are not foul language but they think the words would harm the IP reputation. For example, Honda may not want their car showing a driver's name “Slow Honda”. This kind of words is difficult to filter automatically... and IP owner may not be able to clearly define detailed enough for implementing the automated filtering.
No, what i mean is this game. I thought it was about it Just go into an raceroom bridge all cars server for about half an hour or go to your profil and type words into the search bar. It's absurd. Even a small fan-wikipedia i worked in has an extensive title blacklist for articels and especially user-accounts.
Hehe ... agree! Perhaps, the game developer found that filtering could cause other problematic arguments from players. Btw, MSFT and GOOG are not famous email service companies. Their business coverage is much much much ... larger than that.
They may not be words, but drawings, symbols. For example, a very interesting profile picture in the leaderboard Bridge - Touring Cars Cup. Not nice!
The discussion was originated from my question... I wonder if allowing custom driver name on race car would cause less license issue than custom livery. Some friends here pointed out, even driver name is textual, there is still much license issue, especially those unwanted words that IP owner thinks these would hurt the reputation. I agree. Foul language can be filtered automatically... but those unwanted words ... seems no viable way for automatic filtering.
Ah, you're right. Somewhere at the beginning of the thread, or in the middle, it was probably about skins and I was thinking about full skins. Words can be modified in such a way that they are not recognized by the software. By adjusting the spacing between letters, rearranging consonants (fukc for example), a combination of Latin and Cyrillic x 200 languages. The software recognition database can be supplemented, but new variations will also be devised. And a big chase will ensue. There are also words with more than one meaning - neutral and at the same time offensive. However, it might be possible to simply take the name from the account of the user, pardon, the competitor, to avoid some creative deviations in the wrong direction.
Just want to explore some ways making R3E more attractive, to address the lack of personalized livery. I always feel that the existing presentation of driver's name is ugly in multiplayer session of many racing games. Big names floating on top of cars... yes... it is clear and can be seen far away, but it is less realistic. Certainly, in age of AI, you can treat it as augmented reality in driver helmet in future. Anyway, there are many tasks in R3E enhancement checklist... e.g. day/night cycle, revitalize online multi-player gameplay. I feel that R3E garage is unique and very attractive ... out-of-the-box without mod. Sound, control, authenticity of car dynamics... most of the things are as good as top racing sim. The key missing thing is reasonable size of customer base. Certainly, graphics can be far better. But, personally, I do not want to break my wallet to buy top level hardware in order to enjoy R3E. If we take mod into account, the business competition is rather hard. It is very difficult to compete with the old king... even for its developer who is trying to build a successor (now in early access phase).
They are working on bringing day/night transition to the game, but that requires further updates to the graphics engine (more than what we're getting in this September update). Don't know about rain, but even in the best case scenario it probably won't come soon.
Hi Dev Team, I hope you’re doing well! I’d like to share a proposal regarding tire and body feel for your FFB system. I believe it’s very important for stationary drivers to be able to sense what the tires are doing through the wheel. The proposal includes detailed physics explanations and code examples for your review. I think implementing these ideas could significantly enhance the driving experience while maintaining realism. I’ve also included a custom AMS2 force feedback file to help demonstrate the concepts in practice. I’d really appreciate it if you could take a look and try it out. Thank you for your time and consideration!
