FIA posted a video about track limits. As it turns out, Raceroom's limits are exactly as they define them. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ You can send people here next time they complain about that...
Raceroom rules are absolutely correct and I have always been a huge fan when they introduced it. I was one of the people who critisized the old ones. As a casual player I have no idea where the track limit is, I would need to find it out for every corner which is crazy. What some people do not understand is that you have a driver's briefing before the race weekend. Depending on the track and cars sometimes people agree to ignore the white line at some corners. For the same track and same summer touring cars, F1 and GT3 cars can have different track limits
Personally, I also find these track limits a bit frustrating, but a lot of that frustration comes not from the limits themselves, but how the game handles them. Losing information about both your laptime and your delta is absolutely unnecessary. Plus, not all races are run by FIA. But to support various track limit rules probably requires developing a new system to define track limits, and preferrably show them too.
Interesting video. Maybe a bit hardcore but, do you know those nail barriers that police place on a road on a police chase on movies? I think this is a very good suggestive element to avoid track limits, also the pilot always know when they reached track limits instantly.
why implementing something arcady when there is a white line? completely agree regarding delta and laptime
