Since the new and improved rendering engine is really good and smooth (massive kudos here), how about getting all the car interiors with a geometry upgrade (more polygons and less roblox). While you are at it, upgrade the textures to 2K or even 4K. The new BMW M4 GT3, looks really nice BTW. Then, charge 1 to 3 Euros/Dollars per car for anyone who want to upgrade to a more modern experience? Or perhaps, pay a one-time fee to get all the upgraded cars you have or a "special pack".
If I'm expected to pay 1-3 USD for every car that I have, then I'm probably not gonna do that. But if I only buy it for some of my favorites, or if there's a bundle deal, then yes. Although to be fair, I see nothing wrong with car exterior, neither in poligon count nor textures. Cockpits could see some improvement. Also I don't think it would be a good look in terms of players' reception.
Depends on how the cars were made initially. If they were made with a high poly count and then downgraded for the release version to save performance, then it might not be too difficult. Also, I don't think players should be discouraged from sharing their suggestions simply because something might take a lot of resources to develop, players aren't obligated to know these things. Players share their feedback, devs take this feedback in account to improve the game; that's how it should work, ideally. At least it's not "add rain, night and lemans"
Youre asking if i wanna pay the price for another premium pack for a change that im barely gonna notice. So ill have to pass on that one Plus im not sure if itd be possible to hide what essentially becomes a graphics setting behind a paywall but thatd be for the devs to figure out
Is it even possible that different versions of a car exist at the same time? Wouldn't they need two slots in the selection process? And then, if the servers don't allow the 'old' version, you're not allowed to join a race, even if you technically own the car? Sounds similar to the Zandvoort and Oschersleben reworks, that is not a good move in my opinion (at least for Oschersleben, Zandvoort is technically a new track layout).
In other games for such a "setting" you're paying for a whole new game, without a guarantee that it will be at least not worse than the previous one... Even if it's not possible now, a change like that should be made to the game before adding these "premium" versions of cars.
What bugs me is the the inaccurate exteriors of some (many) cars. The sim as a whole feels very inconsistent. Even new additions, such as the Super Tourers, varies greatly in quality. Some cars are passionately replicated and looks almost spot on, while others feel very rushed and not cared about at all. No, I'm not talking about poly count, but poly placement, or misplacement rather. Makes me very curious what the process looks like actually. I mean, do they have access to the actual cars or are they just looking at pictures on the internet? Feels like the latter more times than a few. Meanwhile, iRacing have laser scanned their cars since 2008. No disrespect. I'm just stating the obvious. And to answer the question, yes I'd pay for an upgrade, if it's done properly.
Second option of course, I'm not going to pay extra for something that should have been there in the first place. I'm talking here of certain cars where you can easily tell the low polygon budget in cockpit view (the Pagani Zonda being one of them IIRC). What's next, paying a premium when (and if) the dashboard MFD's finally get un-Frankensteined? Perhaps we should have been asked to pony up some cash for the previous two visual updates?
