Generating sound by simulating the entire engine

I found this fascinating - A guy simulates the inner workings of an ICE to generate all the subtleties of sound delay etc.. The way he can quickly simulate different configurations is very impressive, as is the result of engine braking.

I wonder if the system could scale to include the complexities of a transmission to include the whine, etc..

 

That's incredibly cool. May be a useful tool for @Anthony Monteil to fill in gaps in samples etc?
