I've been in RaceRoom for three years now, dutifully running the comps. And in that time I do not recall the proper Nordschleife being used. Not talking about the 24-Hours monstrosity, but the Nordschleife. OK, the 'proper' Nordschleife has the north and south loops, but this will do nicely in its stead. I also noticed that the split between free and premium has changed. Very happy to see this track used for a competition. Do it again!
I hit it last night. Super Touring cars feel a lot like the Silhouette class. Very docile and predictable, they go right where you point them, and you can abuse the pedals and it never protests. Very fun to drive. A car that makes it difficult to make mistakes. But I wasn't thrilled with my lap. 7:31 flat and I must be leaving a lot of time out there as that's barely in the top half. I drove the Audi. I have nearly two weeks to drop that and I'll keep plugging away at it. Now that there are eight events, one should be Nordschleife every week haha, just rotate the tubs.
I usually do when my initial attempts prove less than satisfactory. The Audi was sitting top of the board at the time, so I doubt it's the car, but I'll run a few out to see if one suits me better around the Ring.
The Audi currently holds the top fifteen spots on the board. Gave it another go -- in the Audi -- and managed to find six seconds. That's better, but well behind the top laps. A lot of rapid drivers in RaceRoom. Love having a comp on this track. I hope it finds its way in to the rotation more often
Not even the Nordschleife appearing in the rotation gets anyone around here to pipe up. I've kept at it. I picked a ghost at 7:23-flat, about two seconds faster than my best. Maybe see a few corners I could find some time. The first stint I couldn't catch the ghost, running a couple seconds back, losing most time in sector 2. On my second lap of my second stint I had caught right up, just a few car lengths behind, but I noticed my LCD display didn't have the interval, like when you get a track limits, but I hadn't. So I kept going, turning another lap and beat the ghost across the line. Display showed a delta, everything looked good, but after crossing the line it didn't flash up that a new fastest lap had been set. It was a 7:22.7 Went to the garage and refreshed the leaderboard a few times, but in the end it didn't register. Maybe I had lost connection to the servers or something. A bit of a bummer because I had set two faster laps, and picked up 2.5 seconds. But I thought, well if I could do it once, I should be able to do it again. Hit the track again this morning and managed a 21.3. That's still well down the board, not close to top 10%. The Nordschleife brought out the fast boys..
And I did follow your advice. Gave both the Honda and the BMW a run out. But couldn't match my Audi times in either of them. Both felt nice and planted, but stopwatch don't lie.
I think his recommendation was because they might be a bit less forgiving to drive, not for lap time. Lap time wise the audi seems to dominate the super touring competitions
Great advice if you wanna have a different type of fun, bad advice if you wanna do well on the competition But no, i didnt misphrase my interpretation of your interaction. You said the super tourers do just as you wish and dont complain, he said thats a characteristic of the audi rather than the whole class and invited you to find out yourself by trying some other cars
Oh I see. Yes that was not how I took it. Cheers. The fastest non-Audi lap on the board last I looked was actually a Volvo
Nico is right, i told you to try other cars, because you judged more than one car (or entire class) based on the Audi; thats all i had in mind it wasnt recommendation or anything
Yes I see now, thanks. In the two other marques I ran out -- the Honda and Beemer -- I had no complaints about their handling. I thought they were also quite tame. Just didn't get 'round the place as rapidly.
I saw this in the february 26th changelog: Audi A4 ST - BoP - Reduced engine power ( leaderboard wiped ) Does it mean that there is no need to try to improve with it in the current hotlap competition?
Well, after maybe 4 hours spent to record a good lap, that would really be unfair! I agree with Nico.
