Meh, was hoping youd say the difference could be minor In that case ill just wait for you to post a dominant lap and then decide ill not even try and instead just wait for the video of your lap
I posted a descent lap with the 934 instead, but I won't stay in front for long I know. It was just for the fun! I will soon test the M1.
Nico, do you run these competitions? I searched your name, and found a match, but no entries, so maybe you race under a different name in game? Or maybe you don't care for leaderboards. Denis' stay on top didn't last long as that Georgi Georgiev nicked him, but he's a bit of a Ring specialist, like Sebastian Reeh is. These guys are always on the leaderboards near the top at der Nurburgring. My lap was just out of frame on Denis' screenshot, but has since fallen further. I was just happy to get round the track, quite honestly, and if this had been a fixed setup event I'd probably still be trying to post a time. These cars are hard to handle. I expect DG will return to the top with the M1.
I use the same name in game but dont really like hotlapping so will only rarely take part in the competitions (think this year ive only done the gt3 and dpi at daytona competitions). Hunting for an extra couple tenths for ages just seems much more frustrating than rewarding to me . So if i really like a combo or think i can place towards the top with minimal effort or i just wanna have a chance at 500vrp ill join, otherwise i usually wont. Now if every player was limited to 20 minutes or so to set their lap time and most competitions were fixed setup then id probably compete much more regularly but thats bordering on a completely different type of game mode As for this combo, i was driving the M1 Procar for a bit these past couple of weeks including at the nordschleife and so if the procar and the group 4 version were basically the same id probably put in a lap just for the fun of it but if its a new, slower car to first get used to then im fine just watching from the sidelines ;D
I see. I'm the opposite. I love the challenge of being given a car and track and asked how fast I can get round. There's something scientific about it all, finding those few tenths after many loops around the track. It's all quite engaging, for me. I like racing too, don't get me wrong, but hotlapping is right up my alley. Congrats Denis on dropping me farther off the pace. I am now about 180 car lengths behind
I did a 7.17:975 with the M1 but I completely missed Aremberg and Hohenrain, it should have been a 7.17:500 instead. What laptime were you expecting Nico ?
No, it just gives me more inspiration. But I'm not very good in these Group 4 cars. I'll give ti another go at some point before the round ends, but I'm happy to have posted a time and I might let it stand. I might be forced to if I cannot go faster haha. Nice driving man, that's a superb lap time here, in this car.
Lucky us theres something to do for everybody (although unfortunately with current multiplayer participation theres more to do for you than for me ) Difficult to tell exactly as i never drove the "proper Nordschleife" as bond would say . If 24h/nls/proper layouts all had the exact same average speed i wouldve come out around 7:16 in the procar. Realistically the gp section probably lowers the average speed so maybe 7:14 ish for my laps and probably another few seconds faster in your hands. But if your 7:17 is generally a good lap already then the difference between procar and group 4 might be more like 6-8 seconds, definitely significant but not terribly huge. Might see if i feel like trying to go for p2 then
Well, truth be told, the proper Nordschleife is the one with the north and south loops, but that no longer exists, so in its place the current version has assumed the "proper" mantle. My avatar is the Eagle TG1 taking flight at Flugplatz in that old layout. This image was snapped in 2006! It's actually from a practice lap I was running before a league race there. That Eagle is doing 140 mph, airborne. Ah, the good old days.
Exactly the same for me, I have spent 4683 hours in RaceRoom since july 2018 only trying to improve my laptimes, whatever the car or the track, and sometimes during so many hours (4 hours 40 minutes straight on the night of Wednesday to Thursday only to catch Krisztian Orban in his Porsche 964 at Silverstone Classic !!). As you wrote, there is something scientific in hotlapping, espescially when driving the Nordschleife, as you must learn and memorize so many things, just like not touching the external curb in this place or entering a bit sooner in another place because of a bump in corner entry...
Yeah i know what you mean by it and it certainly works out well for identifying the raceroom layout thats being talked about. Personally i dont mind adding the gp track because in my mind its basically the same as using the start/finish loop which theyve always done, just with a few extra turns because thats just how that area looks like nowadays. But for somebody looking to get as close to historic versions as possible that might be a more significant difference . But calling the combination of Nordschleife and Südschleife the proper Nordschleife also sounds wrong to me . Either way its best to just enjoy the best track in the world, whichever the exact layout
I'm just having some fun, though it is also what I believe, but it's just my opinion, presented as fact It's where I learned the Nordschleife, and raced there so it becomes the defacto standard, the version most representative of what the Nordschleife is. But yeah, the 'proper' bit is just me making the point, but I accept others will have their own view And I reckon only those of a certain vintage will have had the GPL version as their introduction
I can't quite say the same, but I followed suit a year after that. I was in to Grand Prix 3 at the time, which coincidentally, had the version of Silverstone that RR just added (Silverstone Classic) and I don't believe I have seen this layout since then in any racing sim. I've really enjoyed driving it again.
I spent two hours at da Ring yesterday. Managed to get 20 car lengths closer to Denis, but every lap had at least one big moment. This car just jumps out at you when you least expect it (M1). I think I have another three seconds in me but you gotta put it all together. This is an especially challenging combination, for me anyway.
