Ill preface this by saying im not sure its unintended behaviour and itll probably be hard to reproduce.
Today i won a multiplayer race when i dont think i shouldve :D. It was a 30 minute gt3+dpi race (me and most others driving gt3) around daytona which had a mandatory 4 tire change pit stop. However i wasnt aware of that and only changed 2 tires which resulted in a 90 second time penalty added onto the race result. Now comes the tricky part: there was only a single dpi who happened to lap every gt3 except for me. Because of that i did 1 lap more than the rest of the gt3 field and despite the 90 second penalty won the race. In reality i was only leading by around 20 seconds tho so it seems weird that with a 90 second penalty i still won due to the (pretty rare) circumstances.
Wanted to bring it up in case this is unintended behaviour, otherwise ill just take the win :D

It is completely correct that you got awarded the win. In timed races the winner is always the car that did the most distance, then the cars who made the same distance are sorted by who did it quickest. As you did one more lap than all the others in your class you are correctly scored as the winner even if you would have had 10 minutes of penalties added.

I agree it's weird. I guess this rule just doesn't work properly with such big time penalties.

i think this worked as intended ; he got a 1:30 penalty and was a lap ahead ; average lap time for a gt3 is 18 seconds more ; so he did a lap and was leading by 1:48 or more ; so with the penalty his lead would have been at least 18 seconds

i know im not eplaining this well but i hope you get what im trying to say

Yeah if you look at me being a lap ahead it would even work out time wise not just rule wise (the rule being if youre a lap ahead youre gonna stay ahead no matter the penalty). And if i had actually lapped everyone on track i wouldve done that same calculation and figured it was fine. What makes it seem a bit weird is just that i know i was only ahead by 20 seconds and had it been a 29 minute race rather than a 30 minute race i wouldve finished 10th rather than 1st. But as established thats just a quirk of the rules and i got lucky :D
