PXN VD4 profile

    I set it to 1080 in the PXN software. Then, I went into the game, created a new setup, and set that to 1080 as well. Now, all the vehicles are operating at 1080 degrees.

    EDIT;

    As I mentioned, I couldn't reach a solution with this method. I did another test just to be sure.

    I created a controller profile from scratch; before that, I disabled Steam Input just in case. Before launching the game, I set the max rotation to 1080 in the PXN sim racing software. Then, I created a profile by selecting the "Custom DD Wheel" option from scratch and re-mapping the buttons, and set the in-game rotation degree to 1080. The auto-lock feature was still inactive and was fixed as unchangeable in the manual setting. The result was a formula car with a steering angle that turns like a watermelon truck :)

    @Heat867 Put the attached file in this folder: Steam\SteamApps\common\raceroom racing experience\Game\GameData\General

    The game should then recognize that you're using a wheel. The "Auto" option will probably not work, but "Manual" will, but it won't be the same "Manual" as you have now - you'll be able to see the original steering angle on the car setup page and change it if needed.

    @phace The same for you, this file has your wheel too. Don't know why it didn't work for you though. The file that Peter attached should make the game recognize your wheel as an actual wheel, not as just some analog device. Maybe you didn't put the file in the right folder? Or you verified the files after that, or there was a game update that overwritten it.

    thank you for the quick help. After using that file, the steering angles started locking automatically. Even though I was previously able to drive most cars somewhat decently by manually setting it to 540 degrees, I’ve noticed that since every car now automatically locks to its own specific rotation angle, the Force Feedback (FFB) details have become much more distinct and controllable.

    However, even though 'Bumping' is set to 0, the feedback feels a bit too much and quite exhausting—especially on tracks like the Nordschleife. Despite my constant inputs, the jumping and bouncing feel a bit excessive. This could be due to the wheelbase itself, or perhaps there's a software setting that needs adjustment.

    While the driving experience is currently very enjoyable and detailed, it’s at a level that will be quite tiring during long races. I’m planning to look into filtering or reducing the FFB multipliers to smooth it out.
    Just as a side note, I’ll leave this here; it might be helpful.

    That's new because Raceroom's FFB is quite subtle and the usual complaints are that the FFB lacks details. If filtering/smoothing (or whatever they call it) is on 0, then yes, try increasing it, but this setting is more about avoiding unnatural "notchiness". Otherwise I'd first try to increase Damping in PXN software.

    Upd: Maybe PXN has some "details enhansement" setting somewhere?

    Try setting the game's power to 60 percent, vibration to 0, effects to 30, and gear shifting to 10. There are detail settings, but they enhance the same effects (curbs and others). It seems to me that they enhance the same things as the in-game effects settings. Turn on the FFB graph display to see peaks and adjust the force during the ride.
    Also, the lower the rotation speed parameter, the heavier the steering wheel will be.

    Hello, sory for the late reply.
    There have been some changes, so first of all I’d like to explain the current situation regarding them.

    I’m not using any of the canned effects from the wheel software.

    When I first downloaded and used the file, the “Auto” option could not be enabled.
    While it was locked to 900 degrees in manual mode, the wheel would still automatically match and hard-lock to the exact steering rotation of each car in-game.

    For example:

    • If the car used 452°, it locked to 452°
    • If it used 540°, it locked to 540°
    • If it used 646°, it locked to 646°
    Everything worked correctly and the driving felt natural.
    (If we don’t count the overly stiff suspension feeling and tought bumps on some cars.)

    Right now, even though I’m using the exact same file, the “Auto” option suddenly became available.
    However, neither manual mode nor auto mode properly synchronizes the steering rotation anymore.

    In manual mode, the wheel simply rotates to whatever degree is set in the wheel software.

    In auto mode, the game correctly locks the in-game steering to the car-specific value (for example 452° on the DTM 2020 cars), but since the wheel software is still set to 900°, the physical wheel and the in-game wheel no longer match.

    If I manually set the wheel software to 450° to match the car, the suspension feedback and braking forces start interfering with steering smoothness.
    During momentum transitions and cornering, I get knocking/bumping sensations through the wheel.
    The steering no longer feels fluid, and I can’t drive the cars at the same performance level as before.

    So basically:
    Even if I manually set the same steering degree both in the PXN software and inside the game, many cars still develop FFB synchronization problems.
    Competitive driving and consistent lap times become nearly impossible.

    The strange part is:
    At the beginning, there was no issue at all, and the Auto option could not even be activated while using this file.
    Now it suddenly became active by itself, which makes me think the file is no longer working correctly.

    Also, the bumping effect is already set to 0.

    I have over 700 hours in the game, so I’m very familiar with how it normally feels.
    Something is definitely wrong.

    I see there was a patch recently, maybe the file I created for you was overwritten. Put it back. If it doesn't solve the issue, I'd also bind the wheel, pedals and button again in a new control profile.

    Hello, this is the current situation and the testing process I went through.

    • I completely deleted the game.
    • I also deleted the entire RaceRoom folder inside the Documents directory to ensure a completely clean installation.
    • Before using the modified steering file again after the update, I first tested the game in its completely stock/default state.
    • The car used for testing was the DTM 2020 Audi RS5.
    Inside the cockpit, the behavior is as follows:

    • When turning the steering wheel, the in-game cockpit steering wheel animation stops at around 462 degrees, which is the car’s original steering range.
    • However, because my wheelbase software is set to 900 degrees, the physical wheel continues rotating all the way to 900 degrees.
    • At first I thought this was only a soft lock issue.
    However, when checking the car externally:

    • Even though the cockpit steering wheel animation visually stops at around 462 degrees, the external wheel model and steering continue rotating up to 900 degrees.
    Driving the car in this state is extremely difficult:

    • Steering becomes incredibly stiff and heavy.
    • The car is absolutely not usable, drivable, or raceable in this condition.
    After that:

    • I exited the game.
    • I manually set the PXN wheel software rotation to 460 degrees.
    • Inside the game, I also manually set the steering lock/rotation to 460 degrees.
    I then started driving on Nordschleife 24h VLN layout.

    Observations:

    • Around the center, the wheel felt relatively soft and acceptable.
    • However, during cornering, and especially when the car encountered bumps or elevation changes mid-corner, the bouncing forces became excessively harsh and difficult to control.
    • The force feedback behavior felt much more violent than it should.
    On my 6 Nm wheelbase:

    • With in-game FFB strength set to 100, I had to reduce the multiplier for the 2020 Audi RS5 down to around 0.5 - 0.6.
    • At values close to 1.0, the wheel was clipping almost constantly due to the bump forces.
    • Even after lowering the multiplier, high-speed cornering still produced extremely raw and aggressive bouncing forces.
    • The car became difficult to control during fast directional changes and bumps.
    After that, I exited the game again and changed only one setting:

    • I switched the wheel rotation mode from MANUAL to AUTO.
    • Before the update, when using the custom steering file, the AUTO option was not available.
    Results with AUTO enabled:

    • The center feel became tighter and significantly more natural compared to MANUAL mode.
    • The bump-induced bouncing forces were still harsher than expected and still felt somewhat unrefined.
    • However, compared to MANUAL mode, the feedback became noticeably more natural and manageable.
    • In this state, I was finally able to drive properly and complete laps consistently.
    • I was able to do sub-8-minute laps on VLN with the default setup and full fuel load without major issues.
    Final conclusion from all these tests:

    • If the PXN wheel software rotation angle is NOT synchronized with the actual steering angle of the car being driven, the wheel produces abnormally strong steering resistance and side-force feedback during cornering.
    • In that situation, driving the car becomes nearly impossible.
    • If the PXN wheel rotation is manually matched to the car’s steering angle, the situation improves.
    • However, if Wheel Lock-Up / Rotation Mode remains in MANUAL instead of AUTO, the sharp and aggressive bouncing behavior during bumps still remains.
    • Those forces become strong enough to cause spins during high-speed cornering transitions.
    At the moment, AUTO mode appears to provide the most natural and usable behavior, even though the bump response still feels harsher and less refined than expected.

    Edit / Update:

    Before the update, I was able to drive the GT3 Porsche 992 at around 1.3 FFB multiplier without clipping.

    After the update:

    • I now have to reduce the multiplier down to around 0.8 - 0.9 to avoid clipping.
    • Normally, side FFB feels most natural and provides proper grip/detail at around 1.2 - 1.4 FFB.
    • However, at those levels, bumps and curbs become abnormally harsh and aggressive.
    • The wheel produces extremely strong bouncing forces over curbs and elevation changes.
    If I lower the FFB multiplier down to around 0.8 - 0.9 to make bumps and curbs manageable:

    • Grip detail no longer feels strong enough.
    • However, once you pass certain steering angles, the cornering load still suddenly becomes incredibly stiff and heavy.
    This behavior did not exist before the update.

    I will also try completely uninstalling and reinstalling the wheel software/driver in case the issue is related to the PXN software or firmware side.

    Update:

    After downgrading the firmware and then reinstalling/updating back to version 1.05 again, the excessive FFB stiffness issue appears to be fixed.

    I can now use the same FFB values/settings that I was using before without the abnormal harshness.

    At the moment, the only remaining issue is that I need to manually create separate steering rotation profiles for each car inside the PXN Sim Racing Software in order to match the correct steering angle.

    Other than that, the remaining problems seem to be resolved.

    Good to hear that the most issues are fixed. Im waiting for an vd10 at the moment. Im upgrading from an t500rs and Raceroom is my main and absolute favourite Simulation.
    So I hope I will have a good experience with it in Raceroom and the automatic rotation range setting will be fixed soon.
    I will post my feedback here too.

    I previously used the Moza R5. Moza is a good company, but in terms of build quality, these entry-level PXN products actually feel more solid than the equivalent Moza products.

    Even after playing for hours, the temperature does not go above 34°C. There are no overheating issues or power loss problems.

    In the future, I’m also considering upgrading to the VD10.

    The wheel works flawlessly in rFactor 2, Assetto Corsa, ACC, AC EVO, and LMU.

    With the correct settings, it also works very well in RaceRoom. Overall, I’m satisfied with the product.

    I think they will improve the software side over time. If that happens, the prices may increase in the future, but we’ll see

    Hi, I switched to VD10 and also encountered this problem. I created a clean profile, but it didn't help. I ended up reinstalling the base driver from 1.07 back to 1.07. The limiter started working fine in manual mode, but the automatic mode doesn't work. I tested it at 1080 degrees.
