Released Q3 2025 Update - Ranked UI, Graphics Upgrade, LMDh, Renault Laguna

when the leaderboard qualifying system was announced, I was very sceptical. Now, after some months of racing, I really like it. However, there's some things that needs to be improved in my eyes: the differences between qualifying and race.

1) Why would you allow open setup in qualifying when the race is fixed setup? This way, quali pace doesn't really match race pace, and if you get it wrong with which races are fixed and which are open setup, you practice with a totally different car than you drive in the race. Both raise potential for chaos in the race.
2) In leaderboard challenges, tyres are always at optimum pressure and temperatures, which is (obviously) not true for the race. Due to this, the car feels vastly different between qualifying and race. Moreover, you can't gather information about tyre degredation or temperature development while driving. You will need to set up a practice session for this. However, if you only practice in singleplayer, you will be missing lap times for qualification.
3) Why do tracks look completely different in leaderboard qualifying than in the race? Taking DTM 2016 at Nürburgring for example, I take the 50m sign as my brake marker for the fast chicane in qualifying, but in the race, there is a 100m sign at the same spot and I take this as my brake marker. I brake at the same spot in qualifying and race, but in one mode it is a 50m sign and in the other it is a 100m sign. This feels super stupid. Sometimes, additional advertisement signs also hide those brake markers, which confused me a lot at Lausitzring.

 

1) because that is the technical limitation. competition leaderboards can be set to open or fixed setup. normal leaderboards, which are used for ranked grid positions, aber always open setup. which collides a bit with the fixed setup idea of arrive and drive. maybe someday there will be something. don't wait for it.
2) use leaderboard just to set a time, do 3-5 laps to have something on the board to be gridded. (If you are really desperade to have a frontrow grid position there is no other way as to spend many many hours.) The rest of the time spend on practice to gather values like tire wear or fuel usage.
3) that depends on the so called addpacks. for example using a dtm car generates different addboards than using wtcr for example. and ranekd servers have their own add pack (i think, don't quote me here). so sometimes the look of a track can vary (which is especially weird on nürburgring with the chicane and the different meter boards changing due to advertisment, but that has been reported at some point in time already).

 

Is it currently possible from a technical standpoint to use competitions to set the grid on a multiplayer server? If so i feel like doing it via competitions would be a lot better than via leaderboards and i might actually consider joining daily races again

 

Sorry ShortyBuzz, I didn't express myself correctly. I didn't mean to ask why something is this or that way, I wanted to mention that these thing are not solved in the best way currently, at least in my eyes.

 

I don't know. But as one of the reasons was and is to fill normal leaderboards it wouldn't make sense for the devs to use competition ones
But anyway, i actually don't know if that is a thing. maybe.

 

Please add the ability to join the weekly races during qualifying.

(Almost) everything else in the ranked multiplayer is perfect.

 

joining during quali can ruin other peoples quali sessions this is why it has been set this way
