Hello. After several months of work, the R3E FFB app is finally available for download. As a RaceRoom fan for many years now, I like the current FFB a lot, but I feel it lacks some of the more advanced adjustments. Several of those can be set through the wheelbase software, yet not every manufacturer offers them. So I built this application — not to rework the force feedback, but to add finer control on top of it. This software is free to use. The telemetry currently provides data at around 400 Hz. I have not been able to measure the latency precisely, but I do not believe it will be noticeable; my estimate is comfortably under 10 ms. This is experimental software. It was developed and tested only on my own wheelbase, so I cannot say how it will behave across different hardware. For that reason it ships with a disclaimer covering the risks, and with instructions for running it safely. What it does Nine telemetry effects, each mixed into the final force independently: Self-Aligning Torque — the front tyres trying to straighten the wheel; your main front-grip cue Lateral G-Force — raw sideways acceleration, simpler and more immediate than SAT Oversteer — predictive: it rises before the car actually rotates Understeer — compares the yaw the steering asks for with the yaw the car delivers Gyroscopic — the spinning front wheels resisting being steered Weight Transfer and Downforce — dampers: they resist moving the wheel rather than pushing it Slow and Fast Suspension — body movement on one band, bumps and kerbs on the other Tuning and tools Per-effect mix, linearity, slew rate, damping and vibration Six-band equalizer (5, 10, 20, 50, 80 and 120 Hz) with adjustable Q, and a live response curve Blend between native FFB and telemetry effects, at any ratio Profiles saved per car and per track, loaded automatically when you go on track Logger that exports every frame to CSV — telemetry, per-effect contributions and final output Transparent in-game overlay with the same panels, movable and saved per resolution Device shortcuts: bind any button, POV hat or key to raise and lower Blend or Output in 1% or 10% steps Interface in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and German Initial screen: Getting started ⚠ Safety first. Direct-drive bases can produce enough torque to cause injury. Never run the application with the base unsecured or the wheel free to spin near you. Keep hands, hair and clothing clear while testing, start with reduced output when trying new settings, and keep the base power switch within reach. Turn RaceRoom's own force feedback OFF, under Controls → Force Feedback, as shown in the images below. Only then is your device free for R3E Custom FFB to use: the application reads the data directly from the shared-memory telemetry, so there is no conflict between the two modes driving the same device. After turning the native FFB off, the force settings are applied directly from this application. ✕ RaceRoom — Force Feedback ON (must be changed) ✓ RaceRoom — Force Feedback OFF (correct) Download the .zip and extract it anywhere you like — there is no installer. Run R3E FFB.exe. The .NET runtime is bundled, so nothing else to install; Windows 11 already has everything it needs. On first run you will be asked to accept the terms and to confirm you have turned native FFB off. Pick your wheel under Settings → Device, then raise Output FFB gradually. The defaults are deliberately gentle. I didn't tried it yet and I need to say that I honestly like the native ffb in Raceroom a lot the only thing that bothers me is feeling under braking - I would like to have option to activate abs vibrations also better feeling when tires locks ON THE WHEEL instead of being forced to add shakers to pedals if I want such effects not sure if this plugin allows that but I will probably check it in the coming days
Good point! It is possible to add this effect to the steering wheel; a customizable vibration effect already exists, but it is linked to understeer and oversteer effects. I will create this setting for ABS and let you know as soon as the version is updated.
Using a Simagic evo pro. FFB only worked for 5 seconds. Deleted your app an my autorotation was all messed up and was stuck on manual. Had to drop new files in the game folder to make it work again.
I'll investigate this issue to check if there's anything new. Before using the program, was FFB disabled inside the simulator? Running the application with the car on track without having made that change beforehand can cause a conflict and generate this issue. But I can tell you in advance that no simulator or base configuration file is touched. This link has information about what is read and modified by the application: https://github.com/Oldffb/R3E-Custom-FFB-/blob/main/docs/what-it-touches.md
I sent you a Discord message about the app giving an error triangle for config FFB setting. I was not able to get it to configure.
I uploaded a new version today with a few changes: an ABS effect was added, and I adjusted the device access method from DirectInput to exclusive mode to see if that resolves the FFB issue. I also made other minor tweaks. I don't expect this to completely solve the FFB loss problem, but I am still gathering feedback and investigating. R3E Custom FFB v0.22.1 is out Your settings now survive an update, and when the wheel cannot be used the application finally says why. Download: github.com/Oldffb/R3E-Custom-FFB-/releases/latest
