in yesterday's Grid Talk the next updates of Raceroom were presented. for me the most important ones are those concerning the new online and above all the collaboration with Low Fuel Motorsport. Two things that could revolutionize the entire gaming experience. What do you think?
I've been a massive fan of AMS2 my whole racing life and just recently fell out of that because of the insanely long wait times on updates and even the loosest deadlines being broken. Found home at R3E but given that AMS2 is supposed to get LFM support in the near future I thought I would miss out on the multiplayer side. Given that R3E is supposed to be getting LFM aswell I now have no doubt that I am permanently moving to R3E. Love what the guys at KW have been doing for the last 10+ years and the love and support they have given to this game and to the community aswell. Bravo!!
I hope theyll actually be able to pretty much integrate it in game but either way its likely to give online participation a boost which would be great
From what I heard, LFM really only took off in ACC, probably because this game had the most demand for a structured multiplayer and was on the rise in terms of numbers anyway, but in other games it didn't change much. So I don't expect any wonders in Raceroom and honestly don't even know why the devs are trying to go that way while also working on a native in-game sign up/matchmaking system. Splitting the already small playerbase; cluttering the interface with similar-but-different options; players will have to deal with two separate ranking/safety systems - none of that sounds good to me.
I see it more as a new way to promote the game tbh many people don't take Raceroom serious at all, it's usually pretty often ignored via both avg simracing userbase but also content creators that doing all these "best simracing games" comparisons etc - they not even saying it's bad just ignore it completely so maybe most people don't even know it exists, lol and LFM is pretty popular platform that host more and more titles, since the base game is free to play I think it can encourage people to check what's going on saying that other titles didn't took off on LFM isn't exactly true ACC obviously was and still is atm the main thing most AC fanbase don't even like to race just cruise on some highways and it still gets nice numbers for some races (100+ I mean) rF2 which back then had similar 24h peaks as Raceroom now also had 100+ registers for some races at the beginning, didn't "took off" or keep the momentum because it's very complicated sim to make work and u can face many issues with content installation and package system so people just get discouraged after some time and btw if it will be integrated in the UI like was shown there won't be any split at all, just more combos to choose from
How will it work, there are so many car/track/pack combinations? ACC only has a few options, and AC usually only requires downloading a free mod or two.
I assume it will be heavily based on European Track Pack which cost 30 euro (it's like same amount of tracks than in entire ACC) so the price isn't bad and then some other tracks mixed into the schedule having 12 weeks schedule will help too, people will be encouraged to buy content if they will see long term usage for it imo that's one of the major complains people have nowadays and that's why "starter" content is used so much - people don't want to buy things (especially cars) that will be used for 2 weeks every quarter
