Personal data industry is worth dozens of billions these days, I find it disgusting and don't want to make it easier for all these companies to collect data about me, I'm not going to tell them how to find me on other platforms. Discord, in particular, is one of the worse companies and I don't trust them, neither in the past, nor today. For example, there's a fresh anti-consumer trend - forced arbitration, that removes your rights to sue the company - and Discord is one of the slimy companies that jumped on it. The only way I see to circumvent it, is use some old device to create an account on Discord website through VPN or proxy, and use it to get the information about races. That way, this information will be useless for Discord. But I think I'm not interested in this championship enough to jump through these hoops and will just wait till it's implemented directly in the game.
Next thing, if you link your actual account on Discord, even removing the Steam link afterwards, everyone will be able to see your in-game profile by using the /rank command on your Discord name. (Upd: Not anymore, this was changed.) I don't like all this disregard for personal information that comes with this linking.
For Discord Steam ID is useless they can't do anything with it Edit: ok, I understand your issue, but even when there will be another solution, at least there should be option to hide your RaceRoom account from other users
The /rank command no longer allows to tag another user, so that issue has been fully resolved. We're all about making things more accessible for players to join, so if you too have concerns about linking Steam with Discord and it's a reason you're not participating: speak up! If there are more people that do not like this method, we can look into different ways to verify your account. The Discord part however is mandatory for now, as our backend is not able to show the server information yet.
I agree. When I read that I had to link my steam and discord accounts I just gave up the idea of racing on this championship. I'll wait for the ingame solution for the next championships.
I agree with you, Maskerader. In Europe Discord violates the DSVGO! Your Data, your choise! Throw it away, someone makes money out of it, but it is not you! Every mile you race in ranked championship, think about it! Live long and prosper! Horst PS No english native, sorry!
As mentioned in the opening post, you can send an email to esports at raceroom dot com with your Discord username. Bans are handled case by case
What's next for this Championship? Is the next (first) race at the Red Bull Ring next Wednesday? Or are there any changes to the schedule?
Correct, everything in all series is postponed with one week. The topic has been updated, but here is the updated calendar as well:
