[SOLVED] WEBROOT and OpenText prevent Raceroom from working

Steam has been working fine for the last 2 years for me. About 2 weeks ago it all of a sudden will not load. There were a few times where it did load but wouldn't load the car and track. Now I'm at where the sim will not load at all and the red retagular raceroom pic shows and just keeps spinning.. I have tried the latest Nvidia drivers with no success and also dialed back the drivers a month with no change. I have run out of ideas and any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Same here. Always stuck ot the red screen regardless of how long I wait. Tried all the usual tricks (integrity check, uninstall/reinstall, different Nvidia drivers, etc.). and nothing works.

 

I want to say that this happened around the time RaceRoom set their 1 month free access for everything. I just tried a few times now and it will let me in but track and car will not load. It goes back and forth, aggravating as hell.

 

Yeah, it makes me wonder if they forgot about their paying customers!

 

there can be loads of reasons for rr not loading ,
lets just check its not an ISP routing issue get yourself a free vpn , windscribe do one
run the vpn
if this works it may be a routing issue , give your internet provider a call and see if they can help

Thanks for the suggestion; unfortunately running R3E through a VPN did not solve the issue. Every time I launch the sim after the last update, the red screen appears, the screen goes black for a second, and then returns to the red screen and Task Manager states "Not responsive" until I end task

 

To be clear, I also "disagree" with this statement; isn't the "wink" emoji meant to connotate a jest?

 

can you fire up task manager ,process section , fire up raceroom ; whats the memory it uses and report back with how much memory is used before it stops
im guessing there is a hand shake fail ; and knowing at what point mb wise it stops may help

Thanks again for the suggestion; memory remains consistent between 8% - 9% on my system before, when launching R3E, and afterwards. CPU usage is 1% - 2%.

 

By running my VPN through Germany, R3E now launches to the main menu, but when I try loading a track to drive, the game is stuck at the track loading screen (all cars all tracks advert). Task manager does NOT indicated "not responsive" at this point and memory usage stays at 10%.

Also, after getting in the first time through the Germany VPN, I can now launch R3E and get to the main menu either with (or even without) the VPN activated for the US based VPN site in my time zone. But in either case, the sim is now stuck at the track loading screen.

 

Andi means how many MB of RAM does Raceroom program take, not percent of total memory usage.

R3E peaked at 110.8 MB when "Not responding" kicked in (no VPN) [stuck at red screen]
132 MB with VPN enabled from my time zone [stuck at red screen]
145 MB with VPN enabled from Germany [stuck at red screen]
811 MB when stuck at track loading screen (for those times I was able to get to the main menu)

 

Are you from the US? There's another guy with a similar issue.

I have a feeling that getting stuck during loading can happen when all the data is being sent correctly, but with a delay big enough that prevents the client/server syncing from working as intended.

 

Yes; I'm in the US. R3E worked without issue prior to the free-to-play event, regardless if I used a VPN or not.

 

This is a map of submarine cables.



If you can select different cities/states in your VPN, try different ones in the East coast. I would also, just as an experiment, try Brazil.

 

This doesn't kick in by itself, btw. This window is not meant to be responsive, so whenever you click on it, the OS tells you it's not responding. So this particular thing is not an indication of an issue.

Not a stupid question at all, and thanks for your assistance. Since MS discontinued the Maps app, I can no longer change my computer's location. For some reason, it lists my Win10 Pro PC location as Thailand in the 3rd party GPS Maps+ app. I have all Location services turned off, and I have the date and time synced correctly for eastern standard time (I live in Virginia, USA).

I have tried launching the sim with the following combos:

1) VPN Thai/PC auto time Thai
2) VPN Thai/PC synced time EST
3) VPN New York/PC auto time Thai
4) VPN New York/PC synced time EST

These basically get me to the track loading screen, but the handshake fails on all of these.

 

For me, Raceroom gets to 135.9MB before stopping any CPU activity.

I am in the US.

 

can you both , without a vp , restart the game let it run until it fails , then post your mwtransport and game file please
