Think it's safe to say that webroot is causing the issues here. Try disabling it or adding an exception

I disabled Webroot with no changes in RaceRoom. I'm back to this startup screen now.
I just tried to log on again 4-5 hrs later and now I'm stuck at the screen after the "Go Race" menu and I haven't done a thing.

Would it be possible that webroot (or other software) has put the .xml files in quarantine and they're still gone even after adding an exception?

Can you try to verify integrity of the game files inside your steam client? See if it finds anything wrong.

The integrity of the files are all good.

This is really weird, just tried to get into the sim and it now stops me again at the very beginning of the game with the red rectagular RaceRoom pic. It goes back and forth with log-in spots, now again after Go Race. I won't post this anymore.

    Hello,

I'm really curious about this case, I wonder if you'd be willing to have a session on teamviewer so I could poke around and see if I find any clues? If you're ok with it, DM me a teamviewer ID and password and I'll connect.

Sorry, I'm not comfortable with doing that.

Did a fresh validation (no problems there), turned off Webroot (which has never posed an issue for R3E in the past, FWIW), and launched the sim via my VPN through NY. The sim got stuck at the track loading screen as before.

This latest log shows the same issue with the game's xml files. I'm very curious to have a teamviewer session with one of you guys who would be ok with it.

Literally the post above yours is the head of the studio putting in his own effort to try to find the cause of the issue...

    Post your logs (Game_xxx.log and MWTransport_xxx.log files) from Documents\My games\SimBin\RaceRoom Racing Experience\UserData\Log

@J-F Chardon and I met on TeamViewer yesterday so he could problem solve the issues described in this thread. Pretty impressive of him to help out starting around 16:00 EST….

Here are a couple of takeaways,

    1) Apart from affluent weirdos mentioned in the Epstein files, there’s arguably nothing, at least from my experience, to fear about TeamViewer. It turned out to be a very transparent way to investigate the issues at hand together. That being said, I totally respect another’s decision to pass on TeamViewer for whatever reason.

    2) Whatever the problem is that is causing R3E to lock up when loading either the main game or a track session, the issue ultimately lies somewhere in my computer and the current state of my operating system, drivers, etc. when I get the chance, I plan to do a fresh Windows install. Given that Win 10 Pro support is due to be end later this year, I may just take the opportunity to install a free copy of Win 11 Pro. After I do either update, I’ll let you know how R3E is working out.

No, I'm all for that, a player has the right expect a paid product to work. What I disagree with is how you insinuate that the team thinks this issue is acceptable and that they deliberately hide something from people about it. Even on its own it's an inadequate reaction, but when you post it right after several posts where a dev is trying to solve the issue, it makes it even worse. Like you're more interested in venting and blaming everyone you can than getting a working product.

Bugs happen. Developers aren't all-knowing gods. In order to fix something, they need to find how and why it happens, a few complaints are not enough information for that. Add on top of that that the team is really small (it's why the head of studio joined in), and it makes it even harder to them to fix bugs quickly and from just a few reports that something happens.

They aren't your enemies. Help them help you, start with posting you logs, for example. Or just sit, wait and make stuff up to feel better.

Windows 10 pro support ending may be the cause. I am seeing all kinds of weirdness with my PC, and I've been thinking of doing a completely fresh W11 install and losing everything. That would include all my FLStudio projects and a crap ton of music I bought from Amazon.

There is a way to keep the FL projects that matter. I just have to make use of an older SATA SSD I have sitting on a shelf. The music... Sigh. I'll keep the jazz, but everything else is going to go away.

It sucks that Windows is pushing everyone to 11. I can't wait for X3D issues when I make the switch.

If I had the time, I would have taken JF up on the Teamviewer. I just have a screwy work schedule at the moment.

Yeah, I just have to make sure I've moved all the stuff that matters to other drives and double checked I have all the drivers I want for my hardware prior to making a fresh install. I've learned from past experience it's worth it to take a second or third look around just to make sure nothing of value gets left behind. R3E may be a sim essentially devoid of mods, but if I had carelessly wiped out my C: drive this time, prior to making a few backups of the ever-growing NAMeS mods I create for AMS2, I'd be utterly gutted!

I'm on Win 10 Pro but the game loads fine. So there must be something else.

As for the update, if you can't save all your files before a full disk wipe, you can try upgrading your Win 10 installation to Win 11 without it.

Long standing problem? Not necessarily. This problem manifests itself like a connection issue; only a few people reported it so far; and it's only a few days ago that the team found out it can be something else instead of a connection.

I just did a fresh Win 11 install and now R3E loads up without issue. Nice to hear the horns blowing from the grandstands welcoming me back to the track….

One thing I've noticed that was "NEVER" there before is what is at the very top of the page where it says "Device found. Profile loaded. Also Options.

Thats been there for as long as I played Raceroom. I used to see it a lot when I had issues with my Fanatec CSR wheel's firmware. That was at least 4 years ago.
