[SOLVED] WEBROOT and OpenText prevent Raceroom from working

Well I guess I'm not very attentive cuz I never noticed it.

 

If you have all of your input devices connected when starting RaceRoom, it will not appear. It's not mandatory a problem with your attention.

 

I've been having the same issues as others in this thread for a few days as well. Is there any plan on fixing this, or is it too small an issue to be considered?

 

I was having the same issues ... until I did a clean install of Windows 11 Pro on my PC. As I was migrating from Windows 10 Pro at the same time, I made the effort to create an entirely unattended Windows 11 Pro installation using the open-source WinUtil that was custom configured with all my latest (or preferred) drivers and designed to deactivate or remove a lot of the garbage that Microsoft installs by default. My new system--and R3E--has been working perfectly after that.

 

For me this has been going on since their UNLOCK EVERYTHING (July 18 – August 18) and have tried everything with no luck. I have Windows 11 and do not plan a new 11 install, simply not worth it. There has to be something that correlates the unlock everything for a month to this. Hopefully before I bid farewell to this earth, they find the problem.

 

For the first week of unlock everything R3E was working fine, it only started for me after the new events for this week. Hopefully, it is just something with the unlocks and not a problem with the entire game.

 

I saw, I just don't think a full reset of Windows is worth it for me just for this one issue. Maybe if nothing else solves it in time, I'll try what you did.

 

The main problem is that this is not just one single issue. When the game gets stuck during loading it simply means that something is interfering with the loading process, but what exactly causes this, can be different from case to case. For example, I had this too a few times when I tried to launch a big grid GT3 race (with a lot of different car models), but when I only limit the car choice to like 6-7 models, it loads. So it's not about this issue being too small, but about it being too vague and broad; from the devs point of view it might sound as informative as "my game crashes all the time, will it be fixed?".

Start with rebooting your router and trying a free VPN, for example Proton or Windscribe. If that doesn't help, post your logs (they come in pairs: Game_xxx.log and MWTransport_xxx.log) from Documents\My games\SimBin\RaceRoom Racing Experience\UserData\Log

Verifying game files on Steam probably wouldn't hurt either.

 

From what I've seen of other people's experiences from this thread and others, this is not a random case-by-case thing, but an issue affecting many people at around the same time. I've tried many of the remedies suggested on this thread, and none have worked. I have yet to try a vpn and resetting Windows, but free VPNs are questionable and worsen performance, and resetting Windows is an arduous process. No other games I own have ever needed such intervention, especially on Steam, so this seems more like an issue that the developers need to sort out, less so individual players.

 

Agreed; it’s a multifactorial issue. Short of the clean OS install that I executed, another option is to run Microsoft’s System File Checker Tool as described here:

Or maybe free access increased the playerbase activity and this issue is now reported more often because of that. There is an influx of reports, but it's not a new issue.

The ones I mentioned are quite trustworthy and performance doesn't matter, it's just a step to check how it affects the game.

I had a similar issue with another game. It was caused by something either on my ISP or somewhere further down the line (but my ISP managed to solve/circumvent it).

Anyway, that wasn't my point. My point is that it's a relatively rare issue that can be caused by a bunch of different reasons, so it's probably not of the highest priority and on top of that, also hard to find. So as I said a few posts above, help them help you; simply reporting that you have this issue provides no useful information.

One question: where should I post logs and transport files? And some additional information: It takes me around 5 attempts until the game decides to open, and every time it opens, all of my settings are reset. I am also unable to join any server, offline or online.

 

Just experienced something interesting with trying to log in. After getting stuck trying to load the car and track and failed several times at that point, my next two attempts produced these two pics. I was online cuz right after that I tried LMU with no problems logging in, I was already connected to Steam.

I was able to get to the track loading screen with DXVK. When I tried getting into a practice session, the track and everything never loaded. I was stuck at the screen showing hints for camera controls and sharing social media links.

After sitting for 5 minutes I tried bringing up task manager (ctrl + shift + esc) and it didnt appear over raceroom. I had to ctrl + alt + del inorder to log out and stop raceroom.

This happens to me all the time, currently I'm stuck at the very beginning of pressing PLAY in Steam but it does change, in a few hours I'll get back to where you are..

 

And that is DXVK too? I usually run Raceroom normally (not VR or 32bit), DXVK isn't how I regularly play it either. I gave it a try hoping what ever the problem is would resolve its self. I am happy to get past the red rectangle, even if its in Vulkan.

 

No not DXVK. I don't have VR and run in 64bit. It's like it changes where I end up in the menus. For a while it won't let me in period and other times I get to where I'm just short of racing.

 

My specs are pretty ancient but they have performed well with most things, including raceroom: 16gb RAM, Intel Core i5 6600k, nvidia gtx 1060 6gb.
I use a gamesir cyclone as my controller which registers as Steam's standard Gamepad support. I was using OneDrive, but recently moved everything off of it and deactivated it.
The files are of the successful launch. Let me know if you also want the files from unsuccessful launches.
