    It doesn't delete them, it locks access to them somehow.

    Hi all webroot users, after buggering webroot for 2 weeks R3E works now flawlessly again.

    It involved uninstalling webroot, restart, rename WRDATA folder and installing latest webroot again.

    Maybe it is incorporated in webroot now and all is good. Otherwise I can share the link (waiting for answer).

    @J-F Chardon

    Still talking to Webroot support but not getting very far.
    I have a question for our esteemed developers. My simple thinking:

    - Is there some mechanism in windows that allows programs to access protected user folders, and that mechanism has to be in the program's executable?

    Maybe that mechanism slipped the net somewhere in the last R3E updates and Webroot rightfully blocks it.

    I say that because when I force R3E to load by changing security, it runs, but all user settings are lost and not remembered on restart.
    So Webroot actually does not prevent the R3E executables from running!

    Older version Webroot was maybe not so rigorous so that worked.
    New Webroot combined with maybe something missing in the latest R3E updates: fatal...

    Could something like this be the case?

    Can that WRData folder be deleted? I'm having the exact same issue as you. Does reinstalling Webroot create a new WRData folder?

    Yes, and yes. But first uninstall webroot!

    I believe this behaviour is probably because it will allow the process to write / create an .xml file but what's happening is that when the game finds existing ones, I suspect it prevents the game from reading them / accessing them.

    I believe it treats .xml as a suspicious format or something and then disappears them / locks them up, which prevents the game from operating normally. The symptoms are the game fails to reach main menu, or sometimes goes to main menu but then gets stuck in endless loading screen.

    I was originally coming to this thread to add that I just found OpenText ™ Core Endpoint Protection is causing the same exact symptom with at least one player I just connected to through Teamviewer.

    I'll add OpenText to the Thread title for now, and also wrote above again about symptoms so finding this thread is easier...
