More information soon on Discord, forum, Social Media and the LFM website! Eligible cars for the main race Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II BMW M4 GT3 Ferrari 296 GT3 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO II McLaren 720S GT3 ( & EVO) Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) For the race, the cars are enabled in both the GTR 3 and the DTM '24 class. So, even if DTM24 is enabled, it is only the "old" McLaren, not the Evo? And please make sure to include "2020" for the AMG, people WILL confuse it
If LFM for raceroom had been running for many months and was generally doing well id probably be with you but with where things are at at this point youd end up with essentially random grids (unless the majority have already had a fairly stable elo from acc/ac). Over the past month for example there has been 1 "regular" race where you even had the chance to get elo because of their minimum driver requirements. Add 3 further races all on the same evening because a small streamer used an lfm server to race there with his community and maybe another few races on the nordschleife specials. Do you think using that as the basis for matchmaking would result in a better result than sorting the drivers by their performance on the exact same combo that will be driven at the race?
Thanks for killing the mood Nenah. Everyone's opinion matter, but you're taking things too far and most of all, it's simply not true. RR&LFM came up with this solution _together_ as it's a _co-operation_. There's a difference between a special event and daily races. For this _special event_, as a co-operation between two platforms, the easiest way to include the most participation on both platforms is this method. So sorry that you don't like the leaderboards and therefore will not participate. Maybe next event is completely organized how you want it to be.
That was me trying to come up with a scenario where using elo for the matchmaking would still make sense while apparently not knowing every detail about how lfm works. But i guess that option is off the table then I said one "regular" race over the LAST MONTH and including that 3 race evening plus the nordschleife specials wouldve estimated maybe 10 total eligible races over the past month. Now i didnt see a few wtcr races because i couldnt scroll any further where i looked and underestimated the amount of those nordschleife races but the point of there being very limited opportunities still stands. Youve managed to do 28 eligible races over 8 weeks, thats 3.5 per week. But you are also averaging like 4-5 hours of simracing per day. Now if you have that sorta time thats great for you but probably not exactly representative of the average player. So to play with some numbers, say you have like 4-5 hours a week available. In that case you might average 0.5 races per week meaning after 2 months you will have done a grand total of 4 races. Hardly enough for any representative elo or sr. And even when looking at somebody as dedicated as you, over the last 15 days youve done 3 races and those were exactly those where said streamer raced on lfm with his community. If it werent for him youd be sitting at 0 eligible races over your last 50ish hours of simracing. Once again playing with the numbers, if you have 5 hours per week thatd be equivalent to 10 weeks straight without a single eligible race.. Sorry for diving into your personal numbers but i couldnt resist Hard to argue with that (other than that its already been 3 1/2 months when including the public alpha where already there was a decent bit of racing going on) but its also not like raceroom did much to promote it. I think neither here on the forum nor on their instagram theres a single mention of lfm being available for regular races. Cant comment on their discord as im not over there. Hard to get people to race when its almost kept a secret so also kind of unfair to then punish players for simply not knowing or for them not wanting to sign up for empty servers. Who knows if without aforementioned streamer id even know about it and id still consider myself fairly invested in raceroom As for the event itself, its existed for many years as a standalone raceroom event, now its organised in cooperation with lfm, presumably to streamline the process and give lfm some exposure so hopefully both sides can benefit a bit. If you were hoping for an easy podium in the race (which i could even understand ) then i can see your frustration, if you were hoping for a competitive race then this way youre much more likely to get it. I dont particularly care for leaderboards either but if i wanted to take part in the race and had as much time for simracing as you seem to find then spending 10-20 minutes to set a laptime wouldnt seem like too big of an issue to me but obviously youre free to feel different about that and not race this time
But are you wrong? How many people have a rating on LFM and an accurate one at that? With how new LFM is and with its limitations on how and when you gain rating, I'd imagine a lot of people would end up unranked or with inaccurate rating, i.e. random grids like you said.
Oh i still absolutely stand behind those points It was just the idea that maybe if most players already had a stable elo from acc/ac/whatever lfm and that carried over to r3e lfm then using lfm elo to create the splits might make sense. But as has been pointed out you get an independent elo for every sim and so that idea is off the table
Well if you ask me I 've known about LFM just a few weeks ago, guess via this Forum while after the Supertourers Trial period I really felt motivated to jump into Multiplayer Sessions again. Oldschool Simracer here doin' this for 25+ Years, joined a tough and well organized RR League (also moderating) in 2015 (not the first one btw.), been Hardcore Racer there for some years + Seasons, been as Hardcore and almost as fanatic as Nenah up there for some time, though lost a lotta fun by even being this extreme with my demands/expectations. Plus, you know, the drama, the complaints, the ego-fights, within a bunch of highly competitive simmers, not to forget the time spent with endless practice to stay competitive, with organizing and what not...even returned for a short while recently, but soon felt that the Spirit those "old times" was gone anyway... So I stopped completely except for some few ranked sessions and personal singleplayer challenges (Championships, Endurance, mostly RR and AMS2). In short : I'm on the opposite end from where Nenah stands and all I want and need is a simple Forum, an even simpler and easy accessable website, a small but tight and dedicated group of guys running the show and weekly regular (fun) races with maybe one bigger event per month to chose from in a more Gentlemen like way so that the common goal is NOT to win at all cost but to provide the most enjoyable racing experience and atmosphere for literally anyone. Well now you know why I'm first and foremost waiting for the "remastered" ranked system by RRE/KW Studios to hop in, finding like-minded racers on a good (but not over-extreme) skillfull level with decent racecraft. So, LFM then : I subscribed with some enthusiasm while I actually don't like all this superfancy portals (and I visited a bunch of the most popular ones btw. : ppl who know me from here also know that I even dislike Discord for its overblown nonsense functions instead of being just a simple but useful communications tool - like Teamspeak was for example) Ok found my way, grinded through, looked at the sessions offered for a while, saw that literally nobody subscribed, most sessions I had no interest in, others were taking place at strange times oh and yes : Another rating system I have to drive under - happy enough having a decent rating at RR...I also don't know who is participating, don't want to race with fanatics and aliens anymore (see above - I'm too old for this shit anyway now) - well that was that ! I just wrote it to add another point of view to the topic, while I#m pretty sure that there are a lot of old bangers who might see it exactly the same way like I do. Greetings
Updated opening post with the timetable and links to the events on LFM On Saturday, July 5, register for the race on the LFM website Support race: https://lowfuelmotorsport.com/seasonsv2/s18-w13-nos-2.4h-support/upcoming Main race: https://lowfuelmotorsport.com/seasonsv2/s18-w13-nos-2.4h/upcoming Race day timetable, Sunday July 6 (times in CEST): 18:00 - Support race server open 18:05 - Support race qualification start (18 minutes) 18:24 - Support race start (20 minutes) 19:00 - Main race server open 19:05 - Main race qualification start (18 minutes) 19:24 - Main race start (144 minutes)
Any update on the BoP yet? Once again im not driving but (also once again) its getting kinda late for anybody wanting to choose their car, work on setup and get some practice in. And another question since ive seen the event is currently limited to 340 slots on lfm. Is that a hard limit and itll then be first come first serve?
I was only worrying about the temperature but it will be a moderate Sunday here (I personally hate that these events take place at the hottest time of the year, always would prefer fall, winter or early spring for this). Apart from that I'll take it easy - it's the taking part that counts ! I also assume that only a part of the leaderboard runners will subscribe, so setting a time within the top 300 should be enough get your slot assured - guess anything else would be unfair to those who really practised enough to be competitive within the group they will be divided in. At least I hope so
There surely wont be 1500+ people willing to race but i think for the 2.4h of daytona there might have been more signups than those 340 (but that was before needing an lfm account and i dont have the numbers at my disposal like the organisers would have) so it could be marginal but lets just hope for the best . As for the time of year i like that these events take place around the time the real events are, i just dont like that theyre always this long (and if they were shorter id probably still wish for some of them to be fixed setup) but not much you can do about that when its about endurance races Edit: ive just seen there are now 510 slots for the main race which sounds much better already
True ! One thing that concerns me is that I would love to watch the replay of this event @CaptainCoffee , tho' the max recording time on my computer is about 1h15/ 30 mins approx. After that the game simply freezes and doesn't save longer replays. Any hint to circumnavigate this issue ? Or will be Server Replays available ???
Kicked from the NoS 2.4h server together with a bunch of other players (Split 2), so that's that Well there was at least one guy who already was determined to win that race at T1 resp. L1 causing carnage... Will this type of idiots ever go away ??
