I thought 'realistic' looked washed out and grotty

Ah yes, but the Midlands is different. Always sunny and bright and lovely and prosperous and clean and happy and you can get lots of pills to make it brighter and smilier and happier and cleaner and lovelier and prosperouser and sunnier etc etc

On an entirely unrelated note, why did no one tell me that Crew Chief reads the laptimes twice in qually? It's unacceptable that I have to test my own software

    Pills please

You know, man, once a long time ago when I was young and low on money, I had such a car, too.

Not to slag anybody off, but those are really the best headlamp textures the creator could find?
But nice enough to have it I guess.. ;)

:) Sorry, I am still traumatized from taking the Nissan GTR on a ride, which made me feel like that stone inside that slingshot before it fires. LOL Brutal beast. I'm convinced its evil.

    It's rhyming! :)

Besides physics, AC's domain: car modelling both interior and exterior. Project Cars does a good job there, too, but I don't know: somehow the cars in PC look even surreally over-realistic, the contour lines are - it looks like using a pencil to work over the lines in a photo a bit. Something is exaggerated there, in AC it looks more natural. Hard to explain. Some say the cars in PC use even more polygons than in AC, but I like the looks of AC cars nevertheless better. Looks more harmonic. And the colour palette is not so intense, cartoon-like.

The blurriness and pixelating is not the texture, but a DOF effect.

Pixelation because of dof? Why then isn't the rest of the foreground pixelated as well?

It slightly is, though very mild, or better, it is slightly blurry, very mildly. The light texture however is - I assume intentionally - made like it is, when the cars are moving it looks a bit like that typical flickering you often can see in carlights at a distance. In a still shot, it loses that impression a bit.

Just download the car and look and see whether you like the real thing or not. ;) The light cones in reality are not that lasersharp in contrast/contours like sims often depict them for sure. The way the author did it here: some people like it, others maybe not. I happen to not see an issue there.

Nobody should say that men don't have a kinda sexual relationship with their favourite cars :)

Never said anything about light cones.
But the texture used for the lamps are low res and pixelated, that's all I was pointing out.
Be it lights off or on

the lamps themselves remain in the same resolution as the rest of the car. ;)

Look, I'm not trying to disrespect the creator, I'm sure he did a great job and, unless in screenshots, those lights aren't seen much anyway.

I just don't get how people keep saying those car models are so much nicer than in R3E f.e. Sure you can get insanely detailed screenshots, just as you can in all the recent games if you crank settings up and inject some stuff on top.
But can you actually drive with that sort of settings? The least of people can I assume and on drivable settings it doesn't look that much better.

Interiors, I'm totally with you, unrivaled detail and beauty in AC, the rest of it, not that much better than the competition imo.

I understand this is off topic, BUT, there is an AC forum to discuss all the aspects of the game.
