https://www.overtake.gg/news/racero...-graphical-overhaul-with-2025-q2-update.3324/ Any of these three manufacturers is a surprise because we have very limited number of cars from them and they all are pretty old. My guess would be it's Ford since they're trying to get (or already got) the license for GT3 Mustang.
surprised its not showing here yet. on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/RRRE/comments/1lgii2f/raceroom_september_2025_update_new_graphics/

I've seen a lot of people wondering about the performance, worrying if they will need an upgrade to run this update. So I will leave this here for some transparent communication, feel free to share it when it gets asked about somewhere else The first thing is that we found some huge performance gains on the CPU side. Our engine was often quite CPU-bottlenecked, particularly when many cars are visible. Now when CPU-limited, the performance gains are upwards of 50-60% compared to the current game! This should hopefully mean that the CPU bottleneck is pretty much a thing of the past from now on, and we can finally utilise modern GPUs properly. Speaking of the GPUs, the increase in visual quality does not come for free of course, so the update will be a bit more taxing on the GPU, I'd estimate it at ~20%. However, the game should still be easily playable on older hardware. I have a Steamdeck that I use to keep an eye on the performance on lower end hardware, which should be similar to a desktop GTX 1050. I typically use my 'worst-case scenario' as a test, which is sitting on the grid of our Nordschleife 24h layout, with 20 cars visible. As an extreme example, at absolute max settings (8x MSAA, Ultra Shadows, our new 100% reflection refresh rate setting) it still manages to stay above 30 fps! With more reasonable, but still very good looking settings, I could easily get above 60 fps in this worst-case test on the Steamdeck. At the higher end, on my main system (5800X3D + 3080), I can still run the game at max settings at 4K (with 8xSSAA!). Getting around 100fps in the cockpit view, in that same test at Nords 24h with 20 cars visible. So we can still reap the benefits of being an older, lightweight game where you can crank up the resolution and anti-aliasing on modern hardware. Resulting in a super crisp and stable image! Now that we are pretty much done with the visual side of the update, we still have a few months to work on the performance. I would love it if we can get it to a point where the performance in the new update is just equal or better in all scenarios. But we do have to be realistic that the current version of the game just doesn't give the GPU that much to do, so it will be hard to beat that performance. TL;DR - CPU-limited: Huge improvements (+50-60% fps) - GPU-limited: More expensive (-20% fps), but still easily playable on most older hardware - Still a few months to work on optimizations until the update comes!
Have you tried it on systems with Intel intergated graphics (ARC and Iris)? Is this the graphics card going to be a major bottleneck on these and is the issue with under car shading fixed?
Let's do some LMDh guesswork: Three models are already done: BMW Lamborghini Porsche As mentioned in the GridTalk, a fourth one is in progress and negotiations for a fifth one are going on. So, out of the ones who are left: Acura Alpine Cadillac we will get one or two. Now to the SPECULATION part: There will be no Acura, as RaceRoom is way more focused on European series (at the moment), so it's Cadillac and/or Alpine. Both manufacturers (when seeing Alpine equal to Renault) have one car in the store, but the Renault TCR is fresher than the Cadillac GT2. Additionally, Mick Schumacher joining Alpine has awakened interest in WEC in Germany. My guess: we will have a four car LMDh pack in September with Alpine, BMW, Lamborghini and Porsche. But what about expanding to LMH? With the Aston Martin Vantage racing in the DTM, some negotiations have to be done with the British manufacturer (successful or not - let's see). The only LMH manufacturers with a car present in RaceRoom are Peugeot (a TCR from 2018), and Ferrari (488 and 296 GT3s). As the LMH technology is different than the one of LMDh, I can't believe this direction will be really open for RaceRoom - excluding the Aston, which doesn't have a hybrid system.
you forgot the dp /p2 cadi ingame for longer than the renault .... wtr one guess what wtr run theses days in gp ? caddi Andi
The dp is a corvette tho (unless there are some close ties between cadillac and chevrolet, in that case ignore )
ooops my bad , just the wayne taylor racing team gave us it so i was guessing we might have a good lead in to the cadi , from (my bad ) the chevy to the cadi due to our connection with the team Andi
Ah i see. If there is a good connection with the team, please tell them to also give us the cadillac and acura dpi cars so the mazda gets some company
There's also Hyundai (Genesis). It's not out there racing yet but that shouldn't be a big issue for bringing it to the game. We have two Hyundai models already, so maybe there are good contacts with that manufacturer.
That's great news out of nowhere (at least for someone like me who's no longer following RaceRoom forums). I have old CPU so the 50%+ CPU improvements is huge. Great job! But who why someone would use 8xSSAA when even 8xMSAA is great and not a total performance killer?
If you have the GPU horsepower to spare, why not? SSAA does improve the image quality quite significantly in terms of stability. In screenshots it can be hard to tell MSAA and SSAA apart, but as soon as you are in the game with movement there is a big difference. with MSAA there will still be some edges that shimmer and look noisy, while SSAA cleans up pretty much everything I've also made an optimization that SSAA is now skipped for any of the cockpit surfaces, since they are close enough that SSAA typically won't do much. And because the cockpit covers a very large part of the view, this means that SSAA is only run on the small view outside of the window, kind of like foveated rendering. In my Nords 24h test with 20 cars, I get 107 fps with 8xSSAA, 130 fps with 8xMSAA. Not that huge of a difference anymore
Wow only about 20% decrease is really surprising for me. Of course it depends on the GPU , but when I last tried it (more than 5 years ago) it was performance killer. But I didn’t know a game could exclude some parts of using SSAA. In sims I usually don’t notice the shimmering with MSAA , but I remember back when Crysis 3 was released it was really annoying in this game , because you could mistakenly think it’s an opponent moving with cloak enabled . I think it’s the first game I saw that offered TAA and it basically eliminated the shimmering without being a performance killer. Of course it had it’s drawbacks too. But back to RR: screenshots with PBR look like significant upgrade . I usually don’t care that much about graphics, but I guess that’s what can attract especially new players. One thing that RR could improve graphically is tarmac textures and lighting. Even iRacing had this part much better since long time, despite old graphics engine and many things like trees still look awful there - even with two pass trees option . Also I don’t know if it’s just me but dashboards often look low res, to the point it’s hard to read smaller fonts. Anyway, for me RR is still one of the best sims, definitely underrated and great achievement , considering relatively small team behind it. I just wish there was greater online participation. I bet some kind of collaboration with big names like Kubica or even new F1 drivers who also do simracing, would bring many new players , but that would probably be huge investment if you’re not Polyphony Digital etc. But I saw some recent interview with LMU director and he said they’ve created a private Discord group where pro drivers who race their cars IRL , discuss and exchange ideas how to further improve the physics . I assume they do it for free , just to make it closer to real life. I think that’s great , because even they don’t always agree what’s realistic because of many variables , but when it comes to specific details , when explained well they ultimately come to consensus . If RR doesn’t have something similar then I think it’s worth trying.
This looks so incredibly good... The remaining question is: Will we have the second full grid of DTM in a row? On discord, someone asked if they could upload a screenshot of the Mustang on new Spa. The reaction was interesting: J-F said there was no Spa available at the moment and posted a screenshot of the 1992 Mustang with the caption 'the only Mustang that counts'. First, I thought that we would actually get the new Mustang, but then I noticed there already are two and a half in the store (GTO, GTR3 and that strange electric SUV thing whatever it wants to be).
