Issue reproduced on 2 independent systems one Windows one Linux, see below for details. When AI race setup option 'Clouds' is set to 'Random' approx 2 sky box transitions happen in a short 5 min race. After seeing the screen stutter if you watch the sky box you will see slow fade to a different sky box happen. Work around is to set 'Clouds' to a fixed option (Clear, Scattered etc) this 100% resolves the issue on both Linux and Windows systems, no stutters with static sky box. Race Room is installed on an NVME drive in both the systems which reproduce the problem. Frustrating issue is that the selected 'Clouds' option does not stick between races and has to set back to a static option after every race, easy to forget until stutters start happening again in the middle of the next race. - System Specs - Windows 11 - 5600X+3060ti+16GBytes - Installed on NVME - NVIDIA Surround triple 1080p screens (VSync enabled) - Ubuntu Linux - 5600X+5060ti+16GBytes - Installed on NVME - 1080p Single screen (VSync enabled)
dev , mod ,testers wise we cant help ; your better digging around in linux specific forums , as r3e hasnt been written to be linux compatable , so make sure in your research , that whatever your using is on the correct (proton) or whatever version Andi
Issue reproduced in both Windows and Linux, please see both my Windows PC spec and Linux PC spec at bottom of the post bug report. I mentioned both Windows and Linux reproduce this issue to illustrate this is not a system specific.
sorry for that speed reading yet again i cant duplicate it on my system ; but will keep checking Andi
It has also been reported here already: https://forum.kw-studios.com/index.php?threads/summer-update-2026-dev-notes.21485/page-2#post-263638
Thanks, good to see confirmation that others have experienced this issue also. I can confirm I was using 1x time multiplier for short AI races so it is odd that the sky box is even trying to update so frequently. Other than this issue the game runs perfectly smoothly on both my systems. It would be great if the 'Clouds' setting would stick between races so I could just set the sky box to 'Clear' once and forget about it.
Thanks for trying to reproduce this issue. It may be that your CPU just has the headroom to power through it vs my CPU which is pushed over the edge into frame drops by the sky box transition.
