Just discovered that all the leaderboards of DTM 2013-2016 are completely wiped!? No entries of any car/driver combo, just empty...? Why? Is it intentional, or by accident (maybe a glitch from the recent update...)?
Wow! Some extremely bad timing from me then... I've just spent the last 7 weeks driving exactly these cars exclusively on the leaderbords. Nothing else. I drive for many hours pretty much every day, and I almost always get a pole or podium position. Before the wipe I was #1 at the overall podium top here (great site btw!) with allmost 1100 podiums. Now I'm down to 800. I was #2 on poles with around 850 entries, now down to around 550... The leaderbords is all I do in this game and right now I'm pretty devastated to be honest. A lot of time and work down the drain.. I really wish we could get some "head-ups" from the devs during development with new updates before actions like this is about to happen. Not just "Leaderbords resetted" when it's already a fact... Couldn't be that hard, could it...? That might have saved at least me from a couple of weeks of "useless" efforts... Right now I'm not sure if I want to continue doing this, at least in this sim. I've just lost a chunk of drive and ambition for it. Sad but true...
Yeah ive also been caught out by unfortunately timed updates a few times and can definitely understand the disappointment. Eventually i always got over it (and realistically usually sooner rather than later) but then again in my cases it wasnt about dozens or even 100+ hours. Either way id also appreciate a heads up once it becomes clear when physics updates will go live
But it evens the play-field. It would otherwise be impossible to get pole if the old records are driven with faster cars or less limiting track-limits, etc. But an in-game message (car-track combo) would be nice when your leaderboard times are deleted.
Thank you for your understanding Nico! I was whining like a crybaby a bit last night, which partly had to do with me heavily trying out a splendid bottle of red wine I was recommended by a friend. Maybe I found it a little too tasty... I guess it's just back up on the horse again and make up for all the lost places. I tried a little last night, but it felt kind of meh... I guess it will take a while for the passion to return...
Oh, you're absolutely right! I fully get the level playing field stuff. A couple of years back I was yelling about locked down engine maps in LB-mode for a number of cars. They were locked at 3 of 5. My point then was precisely the level playing field stuff. Because then they had NOT deleted the older times that obviously were set with unlocked maps, which made them very hard to beat... (Btw, do we really know that the recent physics tweaks to these older DTM cars actually made them slower...? I guess so, but who knows really...) My disappointment now has more to do with the way it's executed. No heads up before whatsoever, no cummunication in the forum or in the grid talks or anywhere... It can't be that hard to announce something like; "Hey, we are planning to make some physics updates to this or that car, which very likely will result in the LB's being wiped. The release is planned to Q4." Then we would know at least a little bit beforehand that it isn't a smart thing to lay all your time and effort on this particular car at the moment. There's plenty of other cars to drive! Well, that's my two cents for now...
