I can barely navigate the buttons on my wheel for a simple pit stop, yet the other day I was looking at button boxes...go figure?
About 8 wks of planning (and waiting for stock) all came together beautifully today, and I said goodbye to the awesome G29. I don't currently have space for a dedicated rig, and my PC is used for many things beyond sim racing, so I have to work around the issues of A). desk, and B). easily packing stuff up if need be. Thankfully it's a 2m+ 4cm thick lump of oak, so anchoring stuff to it and stability are not an issue. - I just have to get a little creative with some project off-cuts: This weekend's job was mainly the motor mount. I wanted it to be solid (obviously), have foward/backward adjustment options, and, more awkwardly, an inclined angle. Works a treat. The Ascher Racing wheel is a work of art. I nearly bought into the Fanatec system to match my pedals/shifter, but seeing that Ascher wheel pop up in a few streams made me dig a little deeper as to options. The Aiologs sequential shifter was what kick-started a complete overhaul of the G29 kit about 5 months ago. The quality of it, and tactile immersion it added was awesome. It was after I'd been using that for a week that I started digging around for 'what next'. I used a scap of t-track for a quick release system that allows me to swap the sequential left/right in ~10s. The arrival of the V8 supers in AMS2 forced my hand here The wooden arm swings under the desk when not used. As for the Simucube, well, **** me. I knew it was going to be a leap on from the G29, but I've been blown away by it this afternoon.. I feel like I'm re-discovering all the sims again.
Hello Frontkratzer I was thinking of getting the same build from Motedis, but when I compare your pictures with the one at Motedis, your has the Bars taller to hold the monitor. How did you add that modification? Is that the only change? Thanks in advance.
Would be interested as well! I am considering whether to buy a Ultrawide (21:9) or a Tripple monitor setup
My $2 secondhand mouse says "BRING IT ON" BTW, those are not "scratches" on that leather desk; those are notches from previous doubters {go ahead, insert nervous laughter}
Looks good. I'm really happy with where I'm currently at with the Simucube2 and Clubsport V3s*, but I am quietly lusting after a set of Heusinkvelds. *I had a fiddle with those at the w/e as it goes. I stiffened up the brake pedal some more, and added a custom spacer into the throttle spring to pre-load/stiffen that further as well. Both feel like a good improvement, and more in keeping with the DD output now.
My first attempt at a button box a short while back worked well, but I quickly ran out of buttons, and wanted some encoders for TC etc. So I built another. A lot more fiddly than the first, and I had to buy a new board to deal with the encoders. I also had an I'm-a-fucking-idiot moment when using an oven to soften the vinyl wrap to deal with the rounded corners.. On the third (and final) time I put it in, I left it slightly too long, and the whole bloody lid section melted.. I had to start over with a scrap piece of wood.
Hi! I bought this in addition : https://www.google.de/url?sa=t&sour...FjABegQIBRAB&usg=AOvVaw0DVhs8hYo7IvcPQkei28Dk Greets
