more US-Stuff like some cars of the historical "Trans Am Series" or tracks like "Road America" and "Watkins Glen" and these free weekends will crash the RR servers ... ... This also means of course: "Race On Sunday, Sell On Monday" ...
If only most of people racing during those events knew how to drive properly, it could be great... Sadly, too much bad drivers... Tried it yesterday, 3 corners=3 ramming !!! Won't come anymore, as it was the same with TT Cup on Sonoma...
You do have to persevere with the open servers, they can be great fun, have to say, had some great races over the weekend, no better way of practicing evasive maneuvers and staying calm under knobhead induced incidents, start at the back of the grid and see how far up the order you can get. Also had a race at Bathurst with 30+ combatants, qualified 2nd, punted off at turn 1, rejoined in last place, made it to 7th and had some great tussles along the way, so mayhem is not restricted solely to open servers. Gotta remember we're all amateurs, just at varying degrees of competence and commitment. Edit* Forgot to mention it but witnessed a few collision anomalies with the F4 & Chang, cars were absorbed by other cars then violently spat out, most unnerving, seeing one car being eaten by another, will go back over replays and see if it was picked up.
The Chang circuit is one of the few (5?) circuits I haven't purchased. I thought it looked dull, and having no connection to it (Never seen it raced or played it in another game) it was going to sit un-purchased, proving that I can resist extra content. Then I tried the F4 there, and then DTM, and then Silhouette. To my mind, it is the closest thing we have to the 1980-90s Silverstone that I loved. Nothing specifically the same, it just.......feels.....like it. And yes, I know we have the new Silverstone available, but it feels so different in character. In response to Viggdred and GooseCreature : Last week I won my first ever online race on open servers. 8 people in server - 6 appeared to be drunk (really drunk!) 1 was just really bad/slow. And that is compared to me, the original backmarker. 6 DNFs, 1 guy a lap down, and a winner who wished he hadn't bothered. Stowe, Silhouettes. I should have known. So I mostly stick to paid for content online, and thanks to this weekend, my track options for that have just increased again. Thanks George. I hope you have a comfy sofa, cos if my wife finds out how much I have been spending...... Actually, the tracks and cars are worth every penny to me. In the words of Homer the Thief : "Keep 'em coming, Moses!"
I was really hoping for a Macau test. (Or maybe Bathurst to push me into finally buying it here.....) But, the other free weekends were a bonus, not a right. Thanks Sector3 for the weekends we did get.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have raced at Macau exactly once, and there is no way I'm going back unless someone is willing to pay me serious amounts of cash to do so. Don't get me wrong, the track looks great but why any one would voluntarily take high-performance cars onto that track is beyond me. RD even had an event with Gr. 5 cars on it, which only proves that I'm surrounded by raving lunatics. Although granted, my skill-level might have something to do with the revulsion. Taking someone with my talent (or lack of same) and putting him on a track that consist of 95% concrete walls is.....bad.
Bathurst isn't much better, as far as walls go! I have one advantage over you: once I pass the walls, they disappear from my single monitor vision But your advice about training the AAI has been awesome, and made this game even better (for me), so I am taking this advice also. (until the urge to buy something is upon me again!) So many great tracks, so little time.......
There was a bug spotted during our free week-ends that will be fixed in this week's patch. Free week-ends will return after this patch!
You still did not get Bathurst??? Mate, believe this old man of mine, you can't go on like this! Seriously, a great track, a must have...
True, it's a great track, but I have at least three other versions of it on other games. That's (inversely) why I bought Chang*, Mantorp, and the other Swedish track I'd never heard of. Silverstone remains unpurchased; I have the new layout on at least two other games, and I still don't like it. (Gulp, gonna get exiled for sure now.) *Free weekend at Chang sold me on it.
Love the car and free weekend but those stock blue dash displays drive me insane. Would buy this car with the proper display/wheel.
