No that's an LM-GTP class car, and raced as a GT1 class car in '98. Group C cars raced from 1982-1993 in the World Sportscar/World Endurance Championship, the All-Japan Sports Prototype Championship and some other National series. GTP cars were the American IMSA equivalent, but weren't as restricted as Group C cars so were quicker still!
Yes and no. Yes, because it is an awesome prototype but no, as it had no competition afaik. It destroyed every other car on the grid and won – according to wiki – 21 out of 27 races it entered. I’m more for a balanced grid. Or if it is included in a pack it would be a great option to make a custom grid so that you can opt it in and out.
Hm...driving against the virtual Stefan Bellof would be pretty nice. But there are no competitors in up to now.
There is no need to have a competitor before. There is always a time where you have to start with something. And if you look up in this topic, you will see, that there were things happening about group C in R3E in the past already. The both last updates shows that new classes are being added. GTR4 and Group 4 are classes that can easily expand in future...
The people asked for Porsche and Porsche has arrived, people asked for GT4 and GT4 arrived. The class C popularity on here says to me that one of the two remaining historical Porsche's, to be released early next year will indeed be a 956/962, my waters are screaming it to me! or do I need a piss!
raceroom has representatives for each major category of motorsport present or past, with a beautiful list of cars in each. I continue to see the lack of group C as a very strange thing, although it is certainly a niche category. I reported the 962 ironically, but honestly my dream would be to break my 5.1 using the mazda 787 with the audio as only here they do. and i love japanese cars. by the way, i could accept if before the group C they give us the superGT or Class1.
Pretty nice would be the late 80s with 962, the Walkinshaw Jaguars, Sauber, Nissan...when c group was at its prime. Le Mans also with the endless Hunaudieres should be engineered then for proper slipstream action.
I still have plenty of time left, but it is not infinite. I think that it would be better to hurry up records in Group C car. Presently, valuable cars that exist too late after quietly sleeped at the museum. MAZDA rotary cars such as the 767B 787B will be listed first in the red list.
Top to have added the group C but for once I am disappointed yes disappointed by the reference RACEROOM by the sound of the porsche and the lack of livery nice! meanwhile jaguar, mercedes and mazda ... to complete the series Top d'avoir ajouté le groupe C mais pour une fois je suis déçu oui déçu par la référence RACEROOM par le son de la porsche et du manque de livrée sympa ! en attendant jaguar, mercedes et mazda ... pour compléter la série
Could you precise what you're missing with the Porsche sound, so maybe I can try to improve it? Currently, it is as close as possible from our Paul Ricard recordings (Dauer 962C), with the limitations of the R3E sound engine ofc, but there's always room for improvement. Exceptionally, I'm posting a short sample of these recordings here (along with some pictures I took that day) so you guys can compare (please listen in HD for the best audio quality) :
