Oh boy I wish I had such amazing skills! @pierredietze could you tell us a bit about the materials you've used? Buttons, encoders, display etc. Is that carbon fibre?
My simracing experience keeps evolving You can find out my early gaming place here at the first pages of this Topic for comparing the progress. What else can I say, RaceRoom very addictive thing! But I am so happy that is happened to me Thank you, Sector 3!
Nice work, Yev , I also got me a rig since a few months, but lazy as I am I simply bought one Sooo comfortable......
The wheel is based on a broken (literally speaking) Thrustmaster F1 addon wheel, which i purchased on ebay for a bargin. Display is a SIMR-F1 with enclosure, buttons are fake APEM from China, rotary encoders CTS288. Handles are covered in blue alcantara, carbon optic is made in watertranfer and 2K clearcoat by a friend. Williams F1 stickers came from a simracing friend, the button stickers are custom made by Paul of simstickers.co.uk. The wheel has it's Thrustmaster motherboard still inside, so it's still PS4 compatible. The SIMR-F1 is only functíonal on PC. Magnetic shifters are made by 3DRAP.it, paddles cut out of 3mm carbon fiber. The USB cabel on the backside is attached with a GX16 aviation plug and is needed for PC use and removable for PS4 use. The hardware cost in total about 600€. All done by myself except for the watertransfer. A look inseide:
Love this. I already have a button box but I think there's room on my rig for something like this. What screen are you using there?
This one: SimScreen SS-01 It's nothing special, just a black/white 128x64 LCD. I bought it many years ago when colored displays were sorcery from the future. But it get's the job done. Position, laps, session time left, fuel, tire and brake temps, lap time, gap to leader, personal best, etc. can be displayed. Lately I stumbled upon SimHub and noticed it supports a USBD480 screen and it works flawlessly. If you look for a small display, I would recommend this. When used with SimHub it's plug and play with endless premade screens to choose from. My plan is to build a new case for this display, my gear indicator, an LED controller with some warning LEDs and a bunch of buttons to control the display and emulate a keyboard. Yeah, it got boring when I finished my rig so I'm happy to found something new to tinker with.
Where did you get the usbd480? I havent been able to find one... I have another type of screen that simhub uses but it's not plug and play and needs an adapter...
The USBD480 was part of the GeForce display. It was a waste of money because the software support is really slow and you get only 5 or 6 different screens and can't edit them. Fortunately the display works with SimHub. Maybe you can get one if you get in contact with the manufacturer. Here's the link to their product page.
I will have a look thanks. I love simhub it powers my dash and shakers. I've modified one of the default dash templates to suit my needs but haven't yet had the time to create a bespoke layout. Loads of options as you say though
I haven't had a great deal of time in it yet, been super busy.. . But so far I would say tracking is far superior than my CV1 setup. I had huge tracking issues with my CV1, much do to the one sensor in closet, and two in hallway, always conflicting when I wasn't seen in all three.. But even when working, the Rift S tracking is better in room scale as well, comparing to my 2 sensor setup. There is a noticeable diffarance in clearity, god rays and screen door. Black levels in really dark games is a bit grey foggy looking though. And the sound isn't great, need to do a headset solution, expecially for racing!! Will try to get some more time in and do a comparison video.

Ascher Racing has new wheels and button boxes listed in their store. No carbon fibre this time but with wireless connection for SimuCube2 wheel bases. https://www.ascher-racing.com/product-category/steering-wheels/
@HomieFFM Nope, at least not on their website. The same goes for the Heusinkveld H-pattern shifter, no news on their site too.
Yeah I have seen that vid. I read that some people feel weird with the Rift S. perhaps because of the slightly lower Hz. 80Hz instead of the 90Hz as we have in the Rift.
