Why so fast with closing a thread? Can be an interessting discussion. Yes FRAPS is an option but quite old now. Has someone tried OBS? https://obsproject.com/
LINK: Bandicam Free version allows 10 - or I think even 15 - minutes recordings, a new file gets started automatically, you can manually stitch them together afterwards. Worked much better for me than Fraps. Shadowplay for nVidia users, but the software has a background "service" that constantly and notoriously accesses the HD even if you switch Shadowplay off. I got rid of it, and system calmed down again. Shadowplay is a good idea - but a LOUSY execution.
That was my go to software until I got Shadowplay with my new graphics card. Awesome bit of software, especially considering it is free. It does take a little fiddling to get it set up nicely, but once done it is great and there are lots of how to videos on YouTube.
Converted to obs from fraps and can't think of a reason not to recommend it...except maybe the setting up and familiarizing. But there's good guides and tutorials.
I have recorded many times with shadowplay to my Youtube Channel. No framedrops but when i was editing in Adobe premiere I noticed shadowplay is recording in variable frame rate and you can't record sounds ingame and mic in different audios. So I went to obs multiplatform. You can set it up to record with nvenc hardware that is the same as shadowplay is using. And you can record in constant frame rate different audios. Insert live something into the video and you can stream and and and... So for me it is the best solution and when you set it up right, quality is better than shadowplay.
Finally i think that my cybershot H300 does a good job in 720p. I just have to fix a focus issue. lol Here it is capturing the image of the Optoma HD151X.
Lightworks. 'nuff said. https://www.lwks.com/ I will confess that powerful as it is, there is a VERY steep learning curve with it. EDIT: scratch that, it seems they have changed the licensing and it is not really free anymore.
simple video editing can be done with windows movie maker. like cut and join, simple transitions, adding text, and adding audio tracks. you can use freemake video editor also for simple stuff. i found this https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/ca/products/davinciresolve which looks awesome. there is a free version called DaVinci Resolve Lite that does video editing. i haven't taken the time to use it, tho. so i'm not sure how user friendly it is. you could also use youtube video editor, but i don't recommend that.
