A Statement from the Bianchi Family Nice, France Saturday 18 July 2015 02.45hrs France │ 01.45hrs UK It is with deep sadness that the parents of Jules Bianchi, Philippe and Christine, his brother Tom and sister Mélanie, wish to make it known that Jules passed away last night at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) in Nice, (France) where he was admitted following the accident of 5th October 2014 at Suzuka Circuit during the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix. “Jules fought right to the very end, as he always did, but today his battle came to an end,” said the Bianchi family. “The pain we feel is immense and indescribable. We wish to thank the medical staff at Nice’s CHU who looked after him with love and dedication. We also thank the staff of the General Medical Center in the Mie Prefecture (Japan) who looked after Jules immediately after the accident, as well as all the other doctors who have been involved with his care over the past months. "Furthermore, we thank Jules’ colleagues, friends, fans and everyone who has demonstrated their affection for him over these past months, which gave us great strength and helped us deal with such difficult times. Listening to and reading the many messages made us realise just how much Jules had touched the hearts and minds of so many people all over the world. "We would like to ask that our privacy is respected during this difficult time, while we try to come to terms with the loss of Jules.” #ForzaJules Race in peace
Oh man..... The outlook was always dire but I hoped, with time, he could make some sort of recovery. Everyone in the sport said he was a nice person, for sure a good-looking guy and he was heavily linked with a Ferrari drive one day. Such a tragic end.
I think Tom Coronel said it better than anyone has in tributes to Jules "RIP #JulesBianchi We love our passion #Racing but there are also days we hate our passion. Today we say goodbye to a real racer finish"
After reading statements by his father over the last week or so, I assume that the family decided to withdraw life support, it must be a terrible decision to have to make.
I'm usually not advertising FB events, but it's an esquire idea. One silent lap in memory of Jules Bianchi Our main idea was to make a tribute to Jules Bianchi in the 17th lap of the Hungarian Grand Prix. We decided to ask you to be completely silent in the 17th lap. If you are in the Hungaroring, or you are at home watching your TV, stand up and be silent for the 17th lap, as a tribute to Jules Bianchi. At the end of the lap (when the first driver starts the 18th lap), applause to the racetrack of the heavens. Invite your friends to this event, and let everyone know what to do at the Hungarian Grand Prix. https://www.facebook.com/events/1636037676638996/ #ForzaJules #JB17
