Im always racing cockpit view. I noticed that the reflections on my hood are very laggy. I run a I7-4790K @ 4,6 // Asus GTX980ti // 16 GB Corsair Platinum 2400 DDR3. R3E is installed on a SSD. No matter the track, time or car i always have a solid 60FPS on my 27 inch Samsung at 1920x1080 @ 60hrtz when racing. Everything is smooth except the reflections on the hood. I run the game at max settings. Can i remedy this one or the other way?

IIRC the framerate of the reflections was reduced to improve overall performance.
The reflecitons used to be very demanding.

    Seems like it worked :)

Georg, this make sense, but can refresh rate be optional? Modern GPUs handle RRRE quite well, so having option for more frequent refresh on those systems would be nice. On the other hand, rumors say S3S looking into UE4 :) so it might be different story completely.

Smoke in the mirrors could be an option as well.

I have to agree that the reflections are poor on the 'High' setting at the moment. I've had to switch to 'Low' for the time being, as cars like the FR2 have such bad stuttering on the reflections it becomes a huge distraction. At times, I actually think my framerate has dropped, it is so distracting.

The issue using the 'Low' setting is that it makes the cars look... murky?

It's a shame, as it's the one area of the game that stands out as looking poor in my opinion. I think there needs to be 2 additional option, so we have the following choices:
Off (at least the cars wouldn't look murky or weaker hardware)
    Low
Med (the current version of High)
High (as Med, but running at full framerate)

I noticed as well, it's pretty obvious the FPS for the reflection on the hood are totally different then to overall FPS.
It's remarkable, but there's worse things.

@Montana.BE indeed it is one of the least important things to fix right now.

agree, although it would be nice to have better reflections if needed.

I keep it on low and am not too worried about it.

I just found this vid, and look at the reflections, looks like they are matching the environment speed!!
Is there a difference in the reflection speed between Cockpit and Hud cam??.. .
I'm not able to check for myself until tonight, but it sucks if that's the case and I can't take advantage of it.

Just tried this, and with hud cam I don't get this awful reflection lag!..
If it's fine with hud cam, why not in cockpit?

This is nice find heppsan. Probably because cockpit view is more demanding on resources. However, refresh rate in cockpit view still should be configurable from the options.

Interesting thread, this is also something that I realized today when I wanted to make videos to compare project cars on a ps4 and raceroom. The reflections in project cars a super smooth and real time, detailed. In Raceroom they have a delay in cockpit view. It feels really somehow distracting. Properly because the car paint is too reflective as well. Despite the reflection issue I would really like to see a weather model like in project cars and atmospheric effects like lens flares, lens bloom, fog :) I mean the weather can change a lot during a race. Anyways, it has nothing to do with Reflections but I would like to say it again, the sound is killer in raceroom :)
