Hello everybody, in order to establish some online races with friends I try to run the following configuration: - DSL line, external IP assigned - Vodafone Easy Box 904 xDSL - PC1: running R3E Dedicated Server, PC set to exposed host, same external IP (see above) - PC2: running R3E Multiplayer, same external IP (see above) On PC2 I see the server, but no ping is measured. This means it is not possible to enter session after selecting a car. People from outside have no problems to participate. I'm aware of the fact that it is impossible for most of the people to run R3E Dedicated Server and R3E MP on the same PC but what I need to do to get running the setup mentioned above ? Many thanks, Soeren
I'm running a setup like that and setting up the dedi-server is no problem. Have you opened the ports in your Router as mentioned in the Dedicated-Server HowTo? https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/multiplayer-dedicated-how-to.687/
Yes, I did. Friends from outside can join my session, but not me. Anything else I have to take care for?
No such pb for me either. I run my own Dedi on my own server on my home network, my gaming PC has no issue reaching the server. Maybe your router blocking some loopback: the datas go out to internet from the PC2, coming back in to PC1. As I don't think the game can reach the dedi in local mode but need to use R3E lobby first.
If outside players can reach it's not about ports. I really think it's about the loopback from your router/box The game doesn't allow toe reach the party if there's no ping with the server. No ping = no connexion
it dosent always display a ping. only 20% of servers show a ping in the server list for me but i can still race in them.
After opening the ports, you also set the port forwarding rules right, so that all traffic addresses the correct machine? Might also be caused by your router, depending on how it handles NAT reflection/loopback. So checking the NAT settings might help. http://www.nycnetworkers.com/real-world/nat-reflectionnat-loopbacknat-hairpinning/ https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/W..._ports_on_my_WAN_IP_from_my_LAN/OPTx_networks
I have set the Steam to run as Adminstrator, restarted the server. - Ping is still "-" and can not be reached if you try to join the server: "RR Norway - Prosim.no"
@le_poilu : Thanks for this hint. I exchanged the easybox with a fritzbox and now it works. So the easybox might block some loopback. By the way: now it is even possible to run Dedicated Server and R3E on the same machine. So happy
Vodafone EasyBox 904xDSL seems to have a problem with UDP port forwarding on the one hand and NAT reflection/loopback on the other. Fritzbox does not have this problem. You could check if there is a problem with the loopback if you start telnet on the Dedicated Server PC and try to connect to your external IP in combination with port 60001: telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 60001. This is what I'have learned now.
I got some help from mr. Thomas yesterday - We uncrossed the "Dischard Ping From WAN", and then there was a PING from the server RR Norwa Aanyway when we opened the 2nd server, the 1st lost it's ping again...., but the second worked. And yes, we have set up the 6 opening ports for running two servers. (se pic) - Should we open the "Ping of Death" also....???
Did you take care that you need other ports for the second server? I guess this are 60003 and 60005 UDP, 60004 TCP.
