The sixth round of the eSports WTCC season, the official online championship of the FIA WTCC on RaceRoom, took place on the Slovakiaring and it marked the start of the second half of the season. In Division 2, Frenchman Alexei Bisson put his Volvo on the pole position. He couldn't defend long against Tommy Razeyre though, who took his first win of the season in the Citroen with the number 27. After a mistake by Bisson, Stefan Fritsch and Marcel Hohloch slipped through and completed the podium. In the qualifying for the Division 1 race, it was also a French Volvo driver who set the pace. Kevin Leaune immediately went fastest on his first lap, and wouldn't lose this position until the end of the session. The Swedish cars were strong, with the two Wauters Automotive Volvos of Siggy Rebernak and Baldi lining up 2nd and 3rd ahead of the fastest Honda of Nikodem Wisniewski. When the lights went out, Leaune hit a perfect start and took the lead, while Baldi passed Rebernak in the first corner. Leaune started to gap the field immediately. Nikodem Wisniewski meanwhile moved passed Rebernak on the first lap. The Polish driver had a good performance, but on lap 3, he had a huge moment coming out of turn 2 when he clipped the grass on the exit, lost the rear of the car and hit a barrier. Like a miracle, his car was not severely damaged and he only lost two positions. Rebernak was back on the podium, but it didn't last long. Championship leader Alexander Dornieden moved past the Austrian on Lap 4. In the midfield, the battle was shaping up for the reverse grid pole position. David Nagy, Norbert Leitner and Bence Bánki were trading positions several times throughout the race. In the end, Leaune scored his first win of the season ahead of Baldi and Dornieden, with Rebernak in fourth ahead of Wisniewski, Jan Stange and Gaetan Goarant. Márk Nándori finished 8th ahead of his two fellow Hungarian drivers, Norbert Leitner and David Nagy. For Bence Bánki, it was only the unlucky 11th position at his home race. At the start of the second race, David Nagy managed to convert his pole position into the lead ahead of Nándori and Leitner. Kévin Leaune's hopes of another good result were crushed when he outbraked himself into Turn 3 and spun off into the runoff area. Nagy lost his lead as well on the first lap and Nándori and Leitner managed to sneak through. On Lap 2, Nagy immediately re-passed Leitner, who was also overtaken by Jan Stange. One lap later, Nagy took the lead from Nándori, while Leitner fought back against Stange and moved up into 3rd place again. The two SDL eSports teammates Nándori and Leitner started to hunt Team VSR driver David Nagy, who seemed pretty relaxed about it and didn't cover the inside line much, but rather focused on corner exit speed. It worked out for a long time, but 2 laps before the end, Nándori made the move stick in the first corner, and Leitner managed to sneak through as well. Baldi had closed the gap to the leading quartet and passed Stange on the same lap. As the final lap approached, Leitner protected championship contender Nándori and also didn't overtake him when Nándori ran a bit wide on the exit of turn 2. Nagy, who led for such a long time, lost two positions before the end of the race. In the end, Márk Nándori claimed his 3rd win of the season ahead of Norbert Leitner and Gergo Baldi. Jan Stange was 4th ahead of David Nagy. The fight for 6th was decided on the final lap too, after multiple instances of contact, Gaetan Goarant brought home the position ahead of Rebernak and Dornieden. Adam Pinczes and Bence Bánki rounded out the points finishers. With these results, Márk Nándori has caught up to Alexander Dornieden by 10 points and moves up into 2nd place in the standings. Jan Stange and Gergo Baldi, who had the highest points average at the Slovakiaring, are also still in contention for the title. The leaderboard qualifying for the next round is already on, but there is a one month break until the next race event, on Sunday, September 3rd, in Sonoma.
