When it comes to race cars, the vast amount of available options when developing a setup for a specific track and the personal driving style can be overwhelming - and this not only for the beginners. Most of us know some thump rules, for example: "Increase the rear wing angle to increase the rear stabiliity in fast corners and under heavy braking". But only a few of us know all the little tricks to create the best possible compromise for a given driver / car / track combination. And it will always be a compromise, since many requirements are contradictory.

    Welcome to "Setup Advisor"...

This tool is a member of the Simulator Controller suite (more can be found here: https://github.com/SeriousOldMan/Simulator-Controller). However, since this tool can be used independently, I can make it available to you here as an independent standalone solution, but also as an entry drug for the complete suite, so to speak.

Update: The Setup Advisor is now only available as part of the full package. It can still be used independently, but it shares some code and libraries. Therefore follow this download link: https://github.com/SeriousOldMan/Simulator-Controller#latest-release-build

    Documentation: https://github.com/SeriousOldMan/Simulator-Controller/wiki/Setup-Advisor

And now have fun with your Setups.

Does it read the game information in real time or does it generate a .setup file?

No, not yet. Maybe in the future. For now it tells you, which setup changes might help you with a specific issue, like understeer on slow corner entry.

    it doesn't interact at all

this helps by providing u tips what should u change to fix indicated "problem" and can be used in any racing game with proper physics

the only thing I don't fully understand is description of "differential preload"
"more opening resistance" means more nm in setup?
and after short testing I'm little bit confused by "toe rear" setting because for eg on general understeer characteristics with high severity it shows negative value which means "less toe out" via manual which means "more toe in" which means that it should increase understeer tendency even more isn't it?

    I think, you're right.

Will take a look. General most race cars have toe out values, even at the rear. For understeer, it means more toe out at the front and less toe out at the rear. But you are right, if you are running a car which is running already toe in value at the rear, more won't help. Therefore, "Setup Advisor" gives you only hints, you have still to understand, what you are doing.

The tool has been updated. If you haven't switched to the full package, which supports automated update installations, please reinstall "Setup Advisor" using the download link above.

Okay, most cars run undeed toe in at the rear. Surprisingly, I run a little bit of toe out with 720s on many tracks to make it more lively. But I will reverse the recommendation, so that it is correct for the greater part and I will mention the problem in the documentation. Thanks for the heads up...

There's something new again. Setup Advisor can now read and edit ACC setup files. However, the implementation required deeper integration with other basic components of the "Simulator Controller" software package, so that the tool is no longer available independently for technical reasons. So you have to download and install the entire package, but you will also receive automatic updates in the future.
Of course, you can still use the Advisor independently without having to use the other components.

You can get the whole package here: https://github.com/SeriousOldMan/Simulator-Controller#latest-release-build

The Setup Advisor now can compare setups and will show you the differences. You can even merge two different setups to create a new one with mixed properties for example when building a setup for mixed conditions in an endurance race.

As I mentioned above, the Setup Advisor is only available as part of the Simulator Controller tool suite, but it still can be used completely stand alone.

The 2nd anniversary release of my software brings a great new feature to the Setup Advisor. The tool can now evaluate the telemetry data live and show you problems with your setup, but possibly also with your driving style while you are on the track. In the end, entries can be generated from these events in the "Setup Advisor" after selection, from which the tool can then automatically generate an adapted setup. But what am I talking about here, just watch the video.

Maybe it's time to give the people here a little update on the status of Simulator Controller?

Hi Peter, there is a main thread. And hopefully most of the community member are already following my release infos there.

    https://forum.kw-studios.com/index....ed-pitstop-handling.16838/page-10#post-250639

Anyway, the Setup Advisor has been renamed recently to Setup Workbench and has learned a lot since the initial post in thies thread. It can autodetect handling events like over- or understeering while you are driving and can recommend setup changes to cope with those problems. A full telemetry viewer has been integrated as well. All the data that is collected by the Setup Workbench is also available to the Driving Coach, a virtual Assistant, that uses GPT technology, so that you can discuss your handling problems and setup issues with a skilled "person". By the end of the year the Driving Coach will also able to improve your driving technique by analyzing the fully telemetry data while you are driving using a versatile machine learning model.
