Is the nordschleife too flat in RRE...?? I found this video, is there a option to make more head shakes in game? This video show how it looks from the driver seat In my opinion the nordschleife in racerrom experience is to flat
if im right ... the nordschleife in R3E is Laser scanned. so the track should be 1:1 the same as in real life.
bumps are a little different form game to game although they all use the same laser data in RR the karussell is like a rollercoaster ride, fast and smooth. in AC its more like an offroad experience
That rig is such an enigma, it's so awesome, but then there's a Logitech. From swooning, to , but then wait, that's a pretty sweet custom rim there . Stop toying with my emotions!
I don't know what game this footage is from, but in this day and age not rendering objects further than 300 metres away is pretty poor. And that skybox........
I don't know why people think there should be lots of head movement in racing games. Have any of you guys ever actually raced / driven on track? Fixed cameras, either on car or on helmet footage is far more bumpy than your actual perception when driving. Your brain automatically compensates for the shaking when you are driving, so your view appears smooth. Unless you're in the very small minority who has full G-force tilt rig set up for racing games, you are not going to be experiencing this movement and instead of feeling more realistic, shaking is just going to make the game more difficult to play and may even make you sick.
Totally agree, j.mcleod. Especially with the make you sick part. Head bobbing in FPS games is just as bad. I have never watched the Blair Witch Project - it may be brilliant, but there is no way I was going to sit through that camerawork. I bought a Head Tracker last week, but I have to limit its use until my brain can adjust sufficiently for any extended period of use. My ears say I moved my head 5 degrees, my eyes tell my brain I moved my head 90 degrees. Ok, so the first time I used it the novelty made me over-use it, but I had to either stop or risk praying to the great white god, or hiding in a dark room with a migraine. Mountain biking over VERY rough terrain might shake your eyeballs loose, but a few bumps being softened by suspension....not so much.
Starting out with an EDTracker, at least when you're not actually playing Elite or one of the Truck sims it can be an idea to limit the curves. I then slowly worked my way up to more linear curves that allow me to replace look left/right as well but starting out just give yourself curves in Optentrack that let you actually look to and beyond the apex and the dash. In many ways that's preferable anyway and what I usually use for online when I have no use for enjoying the scenery.
That sounds like excellent advice, Rodent. I'm just not quite sure what you mean, or how to achieve it! Limiting the curves is something I have tried to do by limiting my head movement, and it certainly helps with the not-motion sickness but.... ....at the moment, the movement does not seem very responsive for the initial turning of my head, kinda like the beast is sleeping up there, then suddenly starts responding. Perhaps I over-calibrated it. Thinking about it, the EDTracker must think I'm an owl, the amount of turning it expects! Time to ask Uncle Google for some help, I guess. Or watch the setup video more closely. (RTFM) i'll get there. As long as Sector3 don't add too many visual bumps! Edit : OK, curves and stuff accessed through windows controller - obvious when you think about it. (Which I obviously didn't!).
Realistic is what you want it to be. Do what feels right for you instead of worrying about what everybody else is doing, and whether it's more 'realistic'. As a point of reference, there's absolutely nothing realistic about showing me into a GT3 car and asking me to drive the Nords in the first place.
