TLDR: There is one thing missing from this sim, and that is more advertising! This is both our duty as the community and the duty of the developers imho. I believe a niche genre of a racing game can't grow without interested and connected community; and of course a racing game can't grow without hard working developers. I will do my best, you should consider doing it too mates! If this sim spreads to more people, be sure that we will have a better time for racing and the solutions to our sim-related problems will be better. In a nutshell; share it, spread it, buy it. Thank you! ONE THING MISSING FROM THIS SIM I met this sim a decade ago, in 2014, and bought some DLC packs, than I quit after playing for a while because of focusing an other sim. After watching Overtake_gg 's video (thanks to Emily Jones) about Raceroom 4 days ago, I decided to try again. I installed the sim and I figured out quickly most of the UI and graphics are changed. But I didn't know what awaited me... After a couple of laps with different track/car combos, I realized that the physics are incredibly realistic, the FFB feeling is awesome, the engine, gear and tire sounds are perfect (ohh, especially those rumbling exhaust backfire sounds...), the variety of vehicles and tracks are top notch, AI and optimization is very good! These are my biggest necessarily things for a sim. And it is all satisfactory to me. I didn't expect this much change. Yes, 10 years have passed, of course there would be some progress; but how can it be better than the other sims that I always playing nowadays? Unbelievable! I immediately quit the game and bought some more vehicles and tracks. Luckily, I came across the discount season. Then I felt sorry for myself, why did I wait so long for this? Why did I miss this when I could have had such a great time with this sim? Yes, I was wrong too; if I was a good sim player, I had to follow this sim, at least check in once in a while. Maybe I should read some patch notes, maybe take a couple of laps after big changes? No I didn't do that. I just forgot it; poof, it's gone from my brain.... I want to say, there is one thing missing from this sim, and that is more advertising! This is both our duty as the community and the duty of the developers imho. I believe a niche genre of a racing game can't grow without interested and connected community; and of course a racing game can't grow without hard working developers. I will do my best, you should consider doing it too mates. If this sim spreads to more people, be sure that we will have a better time for racing and the solutions to our sim-related problems will be better. In a nutshell; share it, spread it, buy it. Thanks to hard working Developers, thanks to interested and connected community, Thank you all! So, if there is too much reading, this is such a memory of me, I just wanted to share it and thank to everyone. See you on the track mates!
Strangly enough i was speaking to my mate about RRE lastnight saying i need to have another go on it and see what its like. And then today i see the Overtake vid. I have jumped on and done a few laps in a few cars / tracks but i just dont seem to like the FFB on my DD2 and i cant find any info on settings that aint before all the updates.
There aren't really any settings in game anymore that vastly affect ffb. The default profile for the fanatec DD is as set up by the physics dev on that wheel. What do you feel is missing from the FFB?
Kinda hard to explain tbf. Some cars the FFB is way to strong and in others its way to light and then i have set up the buttons to adjust the FFB and all the cars all have different numbers lol some are 2x others are 1.3x and so on. And then example nordslife the track seems to be way bumby then any of the other sims ive races on so it sends my wheel all over the place lol. Which is why ive been trying to find some settings and see if anyone as tweeked anything but the only 1s are from 2019 which are the standard load settings in fanalab
i got it sorted and now feeling great. It was the stability setting it was on High so the cars handled really weird like no accel. Only thing missng now is HUD stuff like knowing how much brake and accel pressure im applying cos that is really catching me out compared to all other sims. Is there anyway to show that info?
I got it sorted so all good now Only thing i wish it had was more tracks to race on especially for the WTCC as some of the tracks they raced on aint in the game which is a shame. Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan Circuito da Boavista Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo All missing and these were part of the 2013 WTCC season and upwards.
I totally agree, Raceroom suffers a lot from not being out there...... In actual fact the most "advertising" it seems to get is how dated it looks, or doesnt have day/night/weather cycles blah blah blah - I cant understand why people cant look past the graphics (which are perfectly fine to me - sure theres a few nicey nicey things that would be great) and enjoy the sim for what it is! A lot of simracers probably dont even race in rain anyway given the choice. Part of the issue could be the content selection - (well according to some anyway) It doesnt have Le Mans/ Monaco etc etc. Instead we have lesser and sometimes way more fun tracks to explore.....(I REALLY would like some more Australian and New Zealand tracks tho KW Studios!! ) Raceroom kinda comes off like an underground Sim - those who know about it, know - those who dont generally get Iracing (or the latest all glam, no go sim) shoved down their throat and think that is the only/best choice. People comment on lack of racers/online participation, well if no-one knows its here, they cant be part of it. Im guessing that avenues for advertising are kind of limited - Steam - gets hammered with Iracing adverts (well I do anyway) - Youtube is all about the "pretty sims" - as a general rule im guessing when someone hears "Simracing" they automaticly think IRacing. The question is - how can WE as a community get Raceroom more recognised? What avenues can we take? It's all good telling a few mates about the sim, but chances are they have been attached to another "modern" sim already.....we can bring them in of course but we also need to try and capture new players......How do we do this? Chris
Yes, you are right. Our help for more recognise or spread this sim gem is limited. At least, we can say more about RaceRoom at YouTube comments, Reddit posts, etc if we have time for it. When I watched a video about RaceRoom, I always write something about it.
