Now given its 10 year old content i dont expect any changes but maybe one of the devs can explain what lead to this situation. Ive always wondered why the r8 lms ultra in r3e felt weird visually until ive now finally looked at some pictures and did a bit of googling to find out we have the 2012 version in game whereas im used to seeing the 2013-2015ish version in real life videos (which in my opinion looks a lot better). Now for the gtr3 class i can accept that its just the car that we got but for the adac gt masters 2013-15 the packs contain a car that didnt even race in that series which i find rather weird. Was it just overlooked back then or was it a conscious decision and for some reason the licenses allowed for it?
That's interesting. For those wondering what's the difference: Also the rear wing stands are different. 2012 (more here: http://carinpicture.com/2013/01/audi-r8-lms-ultra-2012/) 2013 (more here: https://www.topspeed.com/cars/audi/2013-audi-r8-lms-ultra/)
I can remember this had already been asked a long time ago when gtm experience 201x was released but never was answered (and probably never will be).
Speaking of the r8 lms ultra, is there any chance the bilstein livery could get updated to include driver names and the gran turismo banner? Without them it just looks so empty..
If wikipedia is right, then we have the "non Ultra" version in the game. Wikipedia says, there were the following R8 GT3 models: Audi R8 LMS (2009–2012) Audi R8 LMS Ultra (2012–2015) Audi R8 LMS GT3 (2015–2019) Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo (2018 - ?) Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II (2021 - ?) But the question will be, if there is enough demand or requests to put energy in this "old" car. I think most people will not use this car anymore, even if it will be updated or the real Ultra version would be added, or if it will be renamed to Audi R8 LMS.
In that case id cautiously consider wikipedia not entirely accurate. I have a hard time telling apart the 2012 and the 2009-2012 versions but would generally think we have the 2012 version. However the car got an upgrade in 2013 and raced in that version from then on. Might not have been enough for wikipedia to consider it a completely new car but it certainly wasnt the 2012 version either. I too dont expect anything to change in game (except for maybe yesterdays livery update request ), was just curious why we have a car in adac 2013-15 that didnt race there in the version we have in game
We have 2012 Ultra in the game. There's little difference between it and 2009 LMS in looks (improvements were mainly internal), but there are at least two things you can notice: wider side air intakes and bigger endplates on the rear wing (the wing is also wider but it's hard to judge its size in the game).
