The business model is to profit from paid DLC. You sacrifice free mods for this. In return, you get a continuing supply of licensed content built with input from people involved with the real things. You only pay for what you want.
we have so many games that you can mod , do we really need another? i like the plug and play bit where i dont have to download yet another skin pack , or a mod variation , with a lot of the good mods in other games slowly moving to payware and having not to call the car what it is as well doesnt help my decision... if you dont do the kid in the sweetshop approach then r3e is fairly affordable so i dont see an economic arguement ... yes maybe we miss certain tracks and cars but overall the game has grown to something that we were all asking for a few years ago ... so for me , no mods needed Andi
I like mods in a game like AC, because without mods there are not enough tracks. But in R3E we have tracks enough, so for me there's no reason for mods in this game.
"kilian1234567892" ? Bots are everywhere nowadays (mod-bots lately) Semantic feels quiet right though... Jokes aside, I was a Mod-Junkie during GTR 2 times, couldn't get enough. But in the end with all that Mods screwing and shifting around I forgot to enjoy the game cause I had too much stress to keep it well balanced and functional..not to talk about the quality of some "releases" and the mere craving for something new didn't fullfil my (real) needs eventually...you know - rampant consumption and such...
If RaceRoom had a "function for mods" how would that affect your experience with Raceroom if you NOT use the mods?
it doesnt really matter as it wont happen , because the whole game/backend and staffing would have to be changed and i dont see anyone paying for that to happen so they can have a less secure financial base ..... Andi
As long as my RRE game experience is not affected in the slightest way and the mods have something of a QA (and then, for example, implemented into Steam Workshop for easy and safe usage like a few Total War Mods I tried ) : Not at all But as I said -for me and many other RRE users it seems Mods are just a gimmick you can have but must not....
For example "you need mod a and mod b" to join this server. But you only have mod a and so you have to go and get mod b. Next server then requires mod c and mod X .... So you have more fragmentation of the existing user base.
All the content in Raceroom is of a certain quality. Once mods come in the quality goes drastically lower (obviously not Sector3's quality but the games' and playerbase quality). Modding is wrong for this game. Officially licensed cars, raceroom-"licensed" cars are the only ones that have a place in Raceroom, I believe. If I want to mod a game to shit i'd get Assetto Corsa..
