i haven't played RaceRoom in a long time (couple years) and i just can't get it to run well at all after coming back. The only PC component i've swapped in the meantime is my gpu from a 980TI to a 7800XT, and i remember back then i had +100FPS, now with cars on track i'm barely hitting 30.. Any reason for why? With all settings to absolute minimum i can barely hit 60. I have zero performance issue with other games or simracing title. Things i've tried so far: I have verified files on steam Uninstalled it and deleted my documents/my games/simbin folder And reinstalled the game. And it runs just absolutely terrible. Tried all the boot methods for the game, 64bit, 32bit dxvk etc All my drivers etc are up to date.
Run GPU-Z and check this field. What does it say? The screenshot is from an old version, but in more recent versions there's also a "!" button near the field, it will load GPU to some degree to get more accurate readings of bus interface.
A few things to consider if other modern games are running fine: Given that you're on a modern RDNA card that can suffer from too low clocks due to a PM feedback loop on old titles, stick to dxvk instead of native dx9. If dxvk isn't working properly, confirm if rebar/sam/above 4g decoding is properly enabled on your mb. For a quick check, on your AMD CP, going to Smart Technology tab should show AMDSmartAcess Memory with its toggle enabed at the bottom. Also, if you're on a Freesync monitor, try disabling variable refresh rate on the windows graphics settings toggle, and see also if there's any change when setting fullscreen / borderless ingame (note that changing it in native dx9 can crash the ui, but setting windowed mode from 1 to 2 in your profile's graphics_options.xml does the same). On some old titles, that windows setting can mess up performance badly, but it's usually from bad frame pacing, not so much as bad max fps. Note that having it off won't disable Freesync, it's just a compatibility setting for uwp games and some older stuff that sometimes can give you unexpected trouble. PS: Maskerader, if rdna3 cards behave like my rdna2, even at low load it'll stay at max bus interface, unlike my older Polaris that idled in a downgraded pci-e mode the same way as all cards before it.
My first idea was that the card doesn't sit properly in its slot so it doesn't activate its highest possible mode. Because of DX9 there's a lot of data going through the bus, so this can lead to the same behavior: low FPS in Raceroom but somewhat normal FPS in more modern titles.
Yeah, no need to explain the original intention to confirm a properly connected card, I just pointing that (weirdly) some of the newer cards run with a fixed pci-e state.
it be really good to get your full system specs , and screenshot of the amd control panel for the gpu ; your ingame graphics settings all other hardware attatched to the pc ; controllers included Thanks Andi
