hello, i bought the new oschersleben track and wemt for a ride with my beloved bentley gt3 single player with 19 cars in game (gt3 class) and i get from 18 to 40 fps at medium to high settings (it mostly anyway stays at 25 same track with the alfa giulietta from wtcr 2020 and same number of opponents (19) gives me from 60 fps to 140, mostly 90 anyway i also tried the old non laserscanned oschersleben and i get same exact results with both classes how comes?this is really weird, is physics between those 2 classes really that different, to produce that difference in fps?
Which hardware do you have? Racing against GT3 opponents might result in a lot more car models being loaded compared to the WTCR classes.
i have made another test with some other cars like dtm 2024 and i was getting from 35 to 70fps, which is interesting as cars should be the same as gt3, am i right? anyway, i do have a ryzen 7 5700 octa core with 16 gb of ram and a radeon 6600 i'm playing the game on fedora linux, which may affect performances a little, but it's still weird that categories are so different in terms of fps...
My guess is there's an issue with one of the GT3 cars that tanks FPS. I would turn off opponents cockpit first to see if it changes anything. Then you can try manually selecting some of the cars and maybe you'll be able to narrow down on what cars cause the issue.
i usually take the bentley gt3 with that glossy livery that has all kind of reflections, but i tried taking the black corvette without sponsors and it's exactly the same i will try anyway car by car and without opponents cockpit
do a baseline test just load a grid of frj ; basically one car model +skins and one physics package ..... with a gt3 grid you could be loading 10 models + skins + 10 physics packages Andi
so, i tried with few more cars adac 2015, with the bentley, and i was getting from 70 to 100 fps formula junior (as you suggested) and i got a steady 180 fps i also tried again with gt3 but this time lowering models of the car loaded with 19 cars between old bentley and ferrari i got from 35 to 60 fps, which shows imho than less pshysics is less consuming for the pc, but i do feel it's a little bit weird the game can load an entire wtcr category with more than 100 fps and has so hard times with even just 2 models of gt3 tried switching to directx instead of vulkan but weirdly enough game won't start citing a directx 9 error (which may be caused by my recent change of monitor)
I don't mean that it is your car that's causing the issue, but one of your opponents' cars. With your CPU, the impact of your opponents' physics should be unnoticeable. The drops you're getting are way too big for that, so there's something else, some bug somewhere.
yes, and that's why i tried last test lowering the number of models in race, like instead of loading 19 different cars, just load 9 bentley and 10 ferraris...
What FPS you get if you choose a different GT3, not Bentley? And pick 19 opponents with the same car and livery. I would then try the same again a few times, picking another GT3, and see if there's any difference in FPS.
made another test right now ferrari 296 gt3 with cockpits enabled, i get from 16 to 35 fps (starting line is 17, but i mostly stay at 27/28 without cockpits i get like 10 fps more but i still stay mostly at 29/30 will try to pick same car as you say anyway...
ok so, ferrari 296 gt3, same car same livery, 19 opponents at oschersleben i get from 50 to 60 fps i was able to get 120 but in a point with not too much elements and other cars were way farer than me bentley gt3 (with the glossy livery), same car same livery 19 opponents from 35 to 45 fps (i got to 140 in a spot with no cars at all) EDIT: i did some tests with gt4 cars, since that category too has plenty of cars results where much more the same, except that medium fps are like 40/45 and never dropped below 30 (which is not good but still acceptable, and perfectly playable)
What's you monitor resolution? What are your graphics settings approximately, like all max, high, mid? Especially car reflections. Attach your graphics_options.xml maybe. I ran a race on 3326*1871 (which is 3 times more pixels than FullHD) with Bentley Evo livery #0. My FPS was capped to 60 because of my monitor and it never dipped below 60 except for a short moment when the cars were filling up the grid. Standing on the grid, race start, driving through the first corners - FPS always stayed on 60. Both my CPU and GPU are less powerful than yours.
ok then, here's the xml file resolution is 1920x1080 with 180 refresh, same as monitor, and details are mostly set to medium/high want me to list something else?
There's not a lot of difference between our graphics settings; Shadows, Rear view mirror, and Reflections are one step higher in your settings, and that's basically it. Have you tried renaming this file and use the defaults that the game would suggest? Or verifying game files in Steam?
no but i'll try by the way, i know raceroom has to process tons of physics and it's not an accurate comparison, but i tried some more games grid autosport : variable 110 fps with ultra settings (game is native anyway) dirt showdown : variable 170 fps with ultra settings (game is native anyway) dirt 3 : steady 180 fps with ultra settings (game run via proton) rage 2 : variable 120 fps with high settings (game run via proton) not the same physics but all these games are very graphic demanding... EDIT: tried right now, and either it didn't change a thing or raceroom is suggesting me same exact detail level that i have i would try with directx but seems the game is not starting with that...
