Could this be the moment we've been waiting for, ADAC 2015, shiny new physics and all? edit: I guess sadly not, what witht he big green bar just saying it's a fault.
Server has been down intermittently all day. Hopefully devs will sort it out sooner rather than later
This. It should be relatively straight forward to separate services that really require online features, like challenges and such. Even portal user information could be replicated and updated from an offline file once user is back online.
I doubt so as the always online connection to the server seemed to be designed to verify your game's content so that you gain access to your purchased content. At the end, I hope that the content authentication is done with Steam than R3E servers as if you disconnect from steam, most games(unless MP) still works while there is offline mode too.
Never say never... but it needs a deeper change in the architecture of the game. I'm sure that something like a regular online-mode instead of permanent online-mode could be possible but it would need restrictions.
Yes it's the most disappointing thing about this game and will keep it from ever becoming main stream. Which I don't think the developers are interested in anyway, but still it's a shame.
It is difficult to understand the design reasons behind the current system. Steam is a delivery channel for the core package and small part of the content. RR/S3 clearly wanted the vRP system and their own store, thus that negated the full Steam integration which also reason behind this mess. Even if using their own system, I still don't understand why they didn't develop similar validation system compared to Steam, where online isn't required all the time except for true online features? I don't recall any other modern game delivered through Steam, which requires constant on line for single player features. Sure, it is not easy to make changes now on the fly, but this is clearly a bad design choice from end user point of view. DRM that prevents legitimate paying customers from using the product on which they've spent their hard earned money is just crap. It's like you'd bought a bus ticket, but can't enter the vehicle because of the broken door and you aren't then allowed to a ticket refund. Now, if R3E would be a service provided for businesses, itd most likely be a contracted service with some time based payment structure. We'd also have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the provider (or I'd at least demand one as a customer business). If level is below the agreed, we'd be entitled to a compensation agreed on a contract. But we are living on a consumer world and we just need to eat all this fun. I personally find this bazillion times more annoying than the often discussed business model.
I had three hour to play the game today. Logged in and: "503 Backend service unavailable. Try again later" Sorry, Race Room, don't time to try later. Back to Stock Car Extreme.
its like shampoo.....rinse lather repeat. Come home from work, boot computer, try R3E, start AC/SCE/rfactor2
this is just ridiculous. I never saw a gaming service get offline for so long and... nothing. Even my internet provider in Brazil has a better PR service that informs me when it's going to get back online. At least.
If I ran my networks like R3E I would be fired, why no failover strategy?, paying customers cant be expected to wait for days when the server fails for whatever reason, I cant believe there is no redundancy, If I I was Steam I would be kicking their ass for this
here too. is it normal? I mean, I just got some payed content and if this is normal, that will be last money I'll spend here. sorry to sound like a troll (newbie complaining).
