but an unnecessary statement in this case. btw join lag is all gone for me since the hotfix, and i can switch names on and off. did you try since the hotfix?
The generic display needs to go. It's at the point where I cannot unsee it, it cheapens the entire thing and I'd rather go without. How the art team can take the time to lovingly create model after model with great liveries and then slap that ugly thing on everything from an LMP Audi to a GT3 Bentley and call it a day is beyond me.
It's beyond you cause you don't realize you have to actually code similar to Ui logic to render those displays. That's why classic dials and gauges are easy and pure artist work. Only needs generic code to move needles. For electronic dash you need a configurable render system similar to HUD, which we know also doesn't exist.
While I don't care much about the LCD displays (I am too busy to look at the track ), I tend to disagree about the coding. The same generic code that moves needles, also moves the RPM band on a LCD display. All other infos are barely more than text fields.
Sorry, if other programmers are able to put realistic looking Displays in the cars, S3 should be able to do same. Its realy a evidence of incapacity, and i start do avoid cars with the placeholder Display. I am sick and tired of it. Like the Z4 and the Glickenhaus, because i see something different in this cars. And its a reason for me not to buy Tatuus.
Not sure & I could be wrong, but I think is more to do with this graphics engine in RRRE is old dx9 tech and does not have the capability built in to present such effects. Otherwise it would be already included I assume ?
Other DX9 titles manage to do it just fine, don't get me wrong I'd love to see a new render engine and was pleased as punsch to hear J-F discuss that ideas are being tossed around internally, but if I take Pixels statement as fact, that won't fix shoddy generic displays. If it is indeed a code issue then it's one S3 should prioritize because it looks amateurish in an otherwise very polished product. It's not the end of the world, I'll just stop buying cars that they can't bother to have looking like their real counterparts and play those in other sims. Turbo brick will always give me a reason to come back to R3E at times.
I barely notice the LCD display. These shared assets are way down my list of 'things I'd like to see fixed'
If looking at the same display all the time makes you feel that way, I'd love to see your collection of gaming monitors...
I get that, if you can see past them it's a very minor thing. For me however it's become the FedEx arrow and now I can't unsee it. The instruments is about the only thing I see in the car and it's highly distracting when you know the car you're driving doesn't actually look like that at all.
While I don't like the displays myself it's definitely not something to get your knickers in a twist over. It certainly wouldn't stop me buying a car because of it. I've slapped a cheap 5" android phone behind my wheel running SLIMax Emulator with awesome displays. Bring on the F.4!!
Eh, only way to object in a noticeable way is with the wallet. My money is staying with me until the art department does a better job.
My money doesn't like staying with me, so it'll head to Renovatio for their Shiftlight/LCD panel. I don't care what is on the screen then
