whats going on here,i get 35kg extra and have no way of keeping up??

 

check additional, artificial assists in gameplay settings, those can give you ballast

 

If your car doesn't have Factory ABS, then ABS assist will give you 10 kg. (But if your car has Factory ABS, all braking assists will be without penalty.)
If your car doesn't have Factory TC, then TC assist will give you 15 kg. (But if your car has Factory TC, then even in-game TC will be without penalty.)

Countersteer assist gives you 10 kg.
Stability control does not give you ballast.

You can see in the driver list. Both in multiplayer and in single player.
