Never had this sort if issue before, and nothing's wrong with my connection (250/250mbit). The game is not laggy at all either, and I had zero incident points. What's going on?
Wow, ok, so now my reputation has gone down from 86 to 76 thanks to this. Great! Now I can't even enter the race. This game is broken. Is there even a support group? Doesn't seem like it.
Ping kicks can always happen, as it's an online game requiring internet. Re-gaining reputation is quite easy, especially at the lower reputations
Maybe at the lower reputations thats true but as a whole i cant agree with that statement. Recently had a lap 2 disconnect and that set my rep back to where it was 3 months ago so chances are itll take me 3 months to get back to where i was (and that is if i stay disconnect free for that long). I used to be part of the "theres gotta be some penalty for disconnects" camp but i think thats starting to change. With each disconnect (and no chance to know when theyre more likely to happen) i become more and more reluctant to even enter ranked races which cant really be the goal..
That's why i explicitly mentioned lower reputation. at 90+ it's a completely different story, but up until 83-84 reputation, it's just a few races If the drop rate was extremely high (i.e. 10% of the grid) then obviously there's something wrong on our end, but in most of these cases, it's a routing issue from the provider or someone in the house/network using a lot of bandwidth
I read your original comment as its always easy, just even easier when having a lower rep. But then we agree on that
It happened the third time in a row before I went to bed, during qualifying, even though I was alone on the server. I'm at 40-50 ms, is that bad? Maybe I'll have to switch to cable, but as I said I've never had this issue before and I've always been on wifi.
100% this! wifi is prone to short unpredictable lags due to its nature of sharing / battling in frequencies all over the place (the apartment you live in, neighbours, heck even mobile phones) Cable is definitely the way to go for any stable connection, if you are able to connect your pc with your router via ethernet.
This is what people told me years ago as well but it didnt do anything for me. I spent years using wifi and was no better or worse off than i now am using cable for years. Certainly worth a try but unfortunately not guaranteed to help
Looks tough to get my reputation back anyway since the servers are completely empty. Sad that a sim like this is mainly a single player experience.
I don't think it's too bad, really. Sure, I'd love to have fuller lobbies, but for combos with MX-5, Touring cars etc. on better known tracks it is't really an issue during the times when I race (between 19:00 and 22:30 UTC+1 Germany/Austria). I even joined an empty server during practice a few times, and it filled up to about a dozen drivers until race start. And if there are only two other drivers, then it's easy to get back your reputation: Just hotlap without incidents, and you're up there soon again.
