Yeah, Zanardi's crash was bad Turn of the century was dark for CART, which was definitely one aspect for popularity decline. Before Zanardi, there were Moore and Rodriguez fatalities in 1999 and many other injuries during that time, which left some popular drivers out of the races for recovery. CART had actually quite decent safety record from its inception (1979) and series was pretty active on safety improvements, defintely more than Nascar, perhaps even more than F1. It was an awesome series, nonethless
Yeah,weird story that of Lausitzring.When it was completed in 2000,it was considered the best facility in Europe.And if my memory serves me right,the plan was to take over the German Gp from the old Hockenheim.But after Alboreto's passing while testing an Audi R8 and Zanardi's accident,those plans where scuppered,and Hockenheim went over a reformation in fall 2001 and kept on.Meanwhile Lausitzring disappeared from international racing.

Slightly off topic, but now I am watching some Audi TT Cup highlights and they are racing at Nurburgring GP circuit on a different configuration. They are using the full track but bypassing the Mercedes Arena via the 24h chicane.Very reminiscent of the pre -2002 F1 track.Can we have this configuration added please, @Sector3?
They only used that layout because the Mercedes Benz Arena was closed off due to the 24 hours race. I don't think this layout is used in any other series, so I wouldn't consider it important.
Fine,but Audi TT Cup is officialy represented in R3E.Having the appropriate tracks for the series is something important, don't you think?
Actually the Audi TT Cup will run another round at the Nürburgring later this year where they will be using the Sprint layout which is ingame.
For some reason I had the impression more flag logic was being worked on, but could just be my memory making stuff up. (I picture those little minion guys in "Inside Out" sending up an orb from the "hope" section to trick me) Does anyone know anything re: flags?
